What are mesmers bad against?
As a Mesmer what’s the profession that you have the most trouble against 1v1?
Depends on the build.
tPVP builds have a problem against classes with very good condition damage.
I hate Guardians, Necros and Thieves.
Like loseridoit said, any classes with very good condition damage.
Necros can be quite difficult, particularly if they’re good at using DS. Unless you’re toting a cleanse you really have to avoid the condi bombs in the first place because distortion/blur only prevents the damage for a few seconds, while the conds themselves can last up to half a minute.
Other Mesmers are really my most hated thing to fight.

Guardians that don’t use greatsword. I lost a 15 minute fight to a guardian the other day, I’d put up retaliation but he would wait till it wore off, and didn’t have hard hitters like Whirling Wrath to kill himself on. It was a bunker v bunker build and he ended up winning as I burst my shatters and he stunned me before finishing me off. Has to be guardians. On the other hand I haven’t lost to a necro in months.

Some guardians and rare warriors, that know how to play.
Mesmers DO NOT have problems in PvE. Others classes are simply easy mode in PvE, mesmers play “normal” =)
And yes, very limited abilities for run speed. No signet for it, no passives (only tiny bonus when u have active illusions), only skill in focus (with crap bonus fantasm).

Distortion/Blur does not prevent condition damage that has already been applied.
Condition Damage and constant damage.
Burst direct damage is pretty easy for most mesmers to deal with as our defenses are largely active. Hence, our defensive cooldowns are going to be popped when a foe’s “big offensive cooldowns” are used.
Against condition damage, if it can be reliably applied to keep damage on us, most mesmer builds will crumble (most are light on condition removal).
Against constant damage, we can’t mitigate multiple quick attacks that stay on us. Our blocks block only one attack each and then we have blurred frenzy and distortion. After that we’re taking all of those hits unless we can LoS you or get out of range.
That said, though, the Mesmer is quite capable of punishing people who use quick hits via our plethora of ways to gain retaliation as well as inflict confusion. This is why, despite the above, you don’t see Mesmer griping much about shortbow Rangers because we can simply keep up retaliation and put confusion on them and they’ll often melt themselves. Some Mesmers even go a step farther and reflect those shots ;-)
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

Only things that every really give me problems are rangers and phantasm Mesmers.
Both are pretty much God tier 1v1 and super easy mode. but are crap in team fights so I don’t really care, it’s just annoying when a ranger wants to hound me down.
But beating 6/8 classes on a norm is pretty satisfactory, wish it was a little less Rock Paper Scissors and incorporated skill within the same tier of play.

As a shatter Mesmer, any player that is good at avoiding my shatter bursts makes for a hard fight. Guardians and Engineers that block and Mesmers with distortion tend to be rough.

Run air runes and a focus — pretty much unlimited swiftness
I use it for getting around in tournies
Despite what everyone says, as a shatter mesmer I tend not to die against any condition based builds (necro/engi) because they burst down so easily. Eles and rangers are the main problems.
Rangers with traps and condition damage. They usually know when to dodge, leaving your illusions either bursting at nothing or hitting a trap and dying.
Pets are a huge pain to deal with. If you and the ranger are downed at relatively the same time, then you don’t stand a chance. The pet ends up healing for too much, so it doesn’t matter if you try to kill the pet first.
They are currently the one class I fear the most.
Personally I’m bad against people trolling mesmers. I know I should ignore them but it just feels so GOOD to let the sarcasm fly!

Some skilled necros give me trouble, but noob ones are easy. Eles are the most hated though as they just refuse to take damage while hurling things at me. Theives are hit and miss, though when they hit it hurts.

Engies would even die to the unbuffed condition damage if they use kits.
As a Berserker Mes, stealth burst Thieves and tanky Rangers. Rangers can waste your dodges with ease leaving you vulnerable and burst Thieves will punish any mistake with instant death
From my own experiance in spvp(only thing i do) is: Eles cause they don’t die although glass cannons can die but they would just run away then.
Tanky BM/Trap Rangers with their constant evading and condition application+stupid pet if BM(got bursted for 10k the other day by a raven \o/).
Thieves when i’m unaware/ or cds,
GOOD Necros can be a major pain the rear(no they are not easy to burst down if they know what they are doing), atleast there are very few good necros from what i’ve seen.
Good HGH engineers(my old main class) can be stupidly strong vs me, impossibru if they land their full condi burst on me(dart+torch+geomancy+sharpnell and the free nade for fun) >_>
I guess i’m quite unexperianced with mesmer and getting better by the day, but conditions in general are a pain since i gotta run illusion of life+portal

Condition guardian = wat o.O?
Eles need a mobility nerf (they really shouldn’t be able to even outrun my thief -.-), otherwise they aren’t a problem imo.
