When mesmers fight: condi vs power
Condi Mesmer necessarily falls apart against condition cleanse, since we don’t have a whole lot of cover conditions to deploy. We get Confusion, Torment, and Bleed as the only things we can apply reliably. And the only cover conditions we have come from random procs on Chaos Storm and Staff AA.
This is why you hear people saying that Condi Shatter only really works in low-tier PvP. Organised teams will have enough condition clear to totally neutralise it.

Oh well, wonderful proof countering the “PU condi is OP”

My personal favorite is the author of the “Pu mesmers in WvW need a change” thread, complaining about PU condi then describing how his berserker ranger doesn’t die to dire PU condi because of all the cleanse he brings.
Even in WvW it’s not that hard to counter. As said above it stacks 2 conditions on you mainly and that’s it. Smart cleansing will save you as well as dodging mirror images and making sure to kill clones at some range so as to not be in a shatter. Though to be fair you can probably kill them before they shatter anyway.
I fought one on my thief not long after the spec patch. I couldn’t kill it as we had similar reset potential but he wasn’t ever going to hurt me when I had shadows embrace.
My power shatter memser tends to fair better if only because I can take most of their health off if they dare to mirror image me by interrupting it with MoD and counter burst.
Scholar runes ftw. Yes, I am mad enough to run them in WvW.
In wvw I run power shatter, no pu! Using always mantra of distraction. If I see a condition build running towards me, I swap out decoy and blink for MoR and AT, I need the cleanse more than the stealth and reposition mechanic!
I then ensure I always dodge there clone bursts, the torment hurts! After a while I then let the mesmer apply some stacks to me, then boom arcane thievery and incoming burst from me!
I find mesmer vs mesmer is essentially the same as every other stealth class, make them burn there escapes and defensive abilities, then make the jump!
I am on my phone so, sorry if some slight spelling grammar mistakes!
Don’t waste all your condis at once, let clones do this and wait for the power guy to waste his cleanses. Since he can only use one out of Blink/Decoy/MoD, his bursts are easier to mitigate.

I read that forum and it was stated that on his ranger he had traited for full condi removal and was at a standstill, so that pretty much counterteaming and still cant do enough dmg. Maybe its not pu thats the problem, but the dire stat set combined with pu, theres a reason Dires not in pvp…

First, he was talking about a ranger build that he apparently runs regularly in WvW. Apparently that much condi removal works just fine for him. No surprises there, we’ve already been talking about all these people who refuse to accept that condi is now a threat.
Second, he was in berserker gear. If a tanky character deals equivalent (or close to equivalent) damage to a squishy character, the squishy character shouldn’t stand a chance in a match-up.
If you run into a warrior in full Soldiers, are you going to be surprised when you can’t kill him? Dire is the same way, it’s a very tanky set, so don’t be surprised when you can’t kill them easily. The real issue comes if you can’t kill them because they’re too tanky, but they can easily kill you.
In the case of this ranger, he found that with a decent amount of cleanse, a dire condi mesmer couldn’t kill him. The fact that he couldn’t kill the dire mesmer is implied by the “dire” part and the “ranger” part.
Thirdly, expecting glass (berserkers) to be able to kill tank (dire) is expecting the entire game to be biased towards glass. In traditional pvp, tanks (or tanky dps) are the answer to glass cannons. If glass can kill tank but tank can’t kill glass, then there’s no point to tank, and everyone will just go glass.
