Q:
Who is the easy target ?
In my own experiences, ele. I absolutely face roll ele every time, assuming your talking about a 1v1 scenario.
The Corrupt Mesmer Builds
I usually don’t have any problems taking down Guardians, Warriors (assuming they don’t up and run), Eles and Rangers.
Condition heavy Necros and Engis are pretty hit and miss, though more hit than miss.
Thieves and opposing Mesmers are probably the ones I hate to fight the most.
Ele
I wish ele wasnt so horrible, it was my first char in beta, and it has been my second for pvp since the build “diversity” patch.
I have some friends who main ele, and they basically quite pvp, because they have to be 3x more skilled than someone to beat them :/. Sometkmes we do ele duels in our custom arena… If we still had it. It got too expensive to maintain :’(
On a serious note, heres my list from easy to hard :D
- Elementalist – interupt the massive heal = dead.
- Mesmer – the average Mesmer simply sucks. They use the cheesy combos that are easy to counter.
- Guardian – theyre just not dangerous… Except the retaliation.
- Ranger – they have deadly auto attacks, but thats about it.
- Engineer – uh. I have no idea how to identify an engineer. Just that I shouldnt stand near ledged when they have a flamethrower :/.
- warrior – if im using mantra of resolve, pin down and sword throw arent a problem. Theyre still very tanky, and you have to keep the damage up. With a burst build like shatter, you have to find a veery fine line between too less and too much offense… And balance on it.
- Thief – S/D is difficult, rest is easy. You make a single mistake, and take massive damage and never-ending pressure from auto attacks.
- Necro – very tanky, very conditiony. Make a mistake, and you get overloaded. You need constant mobility, while they can just stand still and tank you.

For me, Ele is probably the top of the heap yes, particularly staff.
My list is the same Alissah’s, with the exception of swapping Engineer with Warrior. A fully kitted out Engineer gives me more trouble than a warrior on most days.
It does depend a little on what build/gear I’m running at the time though.
I’d say Ranger, providing they don’t get downed skill ‘Lick Wounds’ off – been meeting a lot of glassy ones lately.
Ele is next in the list, providing they aren’t bunker (not too much trouble just a longer fight) then its over in seconds.
[NOX] & [Coma] – Gunnar’s Hold.
After spirit nerf, ranger, especially at WvW where I’m running with traitet focus, and I don’t want to affront anyone but I have feeling that majority of the rangers are low experienced and simply bad players.
Ele, then Guardians and Rangers, Ele is by far the easiest to take down.
Ele’s? I think D/D eles are hard, I got one-shotted by one the other day :/ after an ambush (had full berzerker though), stun/stun/moa works good on them though but other ways are appriciated
I think guardians are hilarious to play with they dont do any damage just heal heal heal dead! Sometimes I don’t stomp them because I feel sorry for them. I had a run in wvwvw with 9 guardians in a row, one put up a little resistance, none of them ran away which they deserve a medal for.
Agree with necros being toughest.
Necro and Thief are difficult in open roaming, Necro because they put out so much pressure, Thief because they can freely escape so while they likely cannot kill me, I cannot at all kill them either.
On average, my two sources of rage are Warriors (tons of control, which given the other people firing at you is really really deadly) and Guardians (so much defence, makes you waste everything and then you cannot react to the next guy).
Wow, I must be a weird guy, cause for me the thiefs are one of the easiest class, and eles are quite hard for me, if they run a roaming build.
My list may be (easy to hard):
- Bow rangers.
- Guardians.
- Warriors.
- Thiefs.
- Mesmers.
- Eles.
- Condi Engis.
- Good rangers.
- Necros.
Bow rangers just kill themselves…
As jenzie said, guards are a joke, the only thing that makes them hard to kill is the amount of time you need to take them down. But with the insane combat mobility mesmer have, it shouldn’t be a problem. It just takes more time.
With warriors, you only need to avoid the stuns. Pick up blocks and stun breakers and they are not that beasts they seem.
Thiefs, most of them aren’t true masters of this class. I’ve had more situation when or I kill the thief or they run, than being owned.
As we’re all mesmers, playing against them shouldn’t be a hard time. If you know the class you will know who they’ll play.
Eles. Even they’re not that OP as they were, they have insane survivability and mobility. The problem with them is that they have a lot of ways to heal and recover from bad situations. D/D is a hard build to kill. Staff is very easy…
Condi engis. They have a lot of pressure and are very tough to kill if you don’t have good condi cleansing.
Good rangers are very dangerous. They’re able to keep you distracted with the pet, while putting a lot of pressure with a lot of hybrid damage.
Necros are absolutely the hardest ones. Their brutal amount of condition damage is a true kill for any mesmer. Even minions necros are hard to kill. You have to manage with 5 or 6 pets while necro is throwing conditions on you.

What spec is the Mesmer?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
easiest -> ranger
guardian
ele
warrior
mesmer
thief
harder -> necro
Ranger hands down
Staff ele is also easy but Dagger eles aren’t
The rest depends on player entirely. I.E I can melt a bad thief before they can even stealth but good ones are very tough to beat.
Ranger, definetly. I dont know if bad/low level people play them the most but I usually steamroll them.
Since the release of the game I can recall one good ranger. And he was very good – not even a Mesmer (me) and a Theif (guild buddy) could down him. Seriously, he was unkillable. Not even underwater, this was on land. That said, of course he couldnt do much to us in return so he wasnt all that dangerous.
Many rangers run condition/healing or power/healing specs and can regen health faster than you can damage them. Their pets also remove conditions from them every 10 sec. They are pretty hard to kill and still do decent damage to you.

Easiest to target are the rangers when i am up for a kill
Easiest to kill are the ele
Warriors, even those with hammers. It’s hard to die with 3-4 (Decoy, Blink, Mirror Images or Mantra of Concentration for 4) stun breakers.
Ele for sure.
I don’t have any issues with Necros either since I am a Blackwater/Interruption hybrid. Necros are probably the easiest class to interrupt in the game.
Hardest would be Guardians with all that condition removal and such.
80 Necromancer (IRNY), 80 Guardian (IRNY)
GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
Tbh the only class I lose to while roaming is a Necromancer and that is only on occasion. Rangers are by far the easiest followed by guardians/warriors. The others are mostly dependent on the skill of the player using it.
