I remember when I used to go to forums to complain about classes like this.

The entire notion that game devs “favor” a particular class is ludicrous, childish and not very thoughtful.

The Dev’s want money, money means the game needs to be fairly balanced. The dev’s wanting money and jobs know they must keep the game fairly balanced to the best of their abilities. That’s how it works in real life where people have mortgages and insurance bills to cover every month. You think it’s cheap living in Seattle? You know a mortgage payment is usually 3000$ a month? What, you think the devs are all 20 year olds living at college? You think they would purposely unbalance the game and risk killing their livelihoods because they “herpa kitten , I really like mesmer!”

Give me a break. You probably also think military spending is about “creating democracy” and not making military contractors rich right?

Common sense is free.

I got a real kick out of this reply i must say. Mostly because the overall theme is common sense. Allowing a more popular class to have certain perks IS a method of making money. It’s like with anything; make X better since more people like it. That’s marketing. I think its not fair to say what i said was childish or not very thoughtful; since I can explain, and have for the most part, all complaints I made.

You bring up mortgage… WTF?

Military spending? Are you reading what you write?

And when there are post after post on how underwhelming and unattended-to warriors are for months, It is a very plausible reaction to think that some professions are not cared for as much as others. Warriors have not only been left in the dust but have been kitten on patch after patch. Necro’s JUST got an up-to-par patch… since release. If these guys where sweating too hard as you described about real balance these things AT THE VERY LEAST would warrant responses from the devs.

You somehow, with all your common sense ranting, have completely thrown it out of the window. It’s free man. I’ll share some with you. YES the devs are interested in money. Money > Balance. In fact money takes precedence over any content concerning the game. If 30% of their playerbase plays a mesmer on a consistent basis they will do everything they can not to upset them. If they nerf too hard they risk players crying and leaving cuz their favorite class is not the strongest anymore.

In a post on elementalists a few weeks ago some guy said he was leaving the game because his class was getting too many nerfs which of course resulted in replies agreeing and claiming they are doing the same. This is the truth.

But really I don’t care. It’s just a freaking game kitten . I spelled out some very clear complaints on how frequent invisibility while passively gaining avenues of DPS has no hard counter. Your argument consisted of mortgage bills and government tyranny.

Anyways, glhf

Here you go! Warriors suck you say!

The fact that you fail to grasp my examples only shows how little you actually use your mind or think objectively.

Let me think. I think the phrase goes like this “l2p” Just because you struggle with playing the game well doesn’t mean everyone else does.

Yeah sure, the devs are going to sink the entire game for some childish notion that they like mesmer more than other classes. LOL gufaw, hahahaha.

If mesmer was as op as you say then that’s all people would play. I see a good mix of all the classes.

The fact that warriors are not ideal for spvp has more to do with the maps then the class. The warrior in the video has no problem because he has room to run out. In spvp if you run out then you lose the point.

The fact that they’re married to domination points has more to do with warriors perceived weakness than the actual class being weak.

I’ve fought plenty of warriors in wvw just like the one in the video. It’s rare, but that’s because most people suck at games, not because the class is broken.

Once again just using basic human nature, if mesmers were somehow as overpowered as you say then you would see only mesmer and only more mesmers. As it stands now I see way more necro’s than mesmers in spvp. Even engineers or rangers are more common.

Last time I spectated matches I had a hard time finding a mesmer to watch much less one who actually was good.

If the maps allowed warriors to run out like you see in that video then warriors would be great in spvp. The map design and domination points has more to do with it than anything else.

Sorry, I just wanted to act like the op for moment.

The entire concept that large dev houses like anet are willing to sink their company over some form of favoritism is just so laughable and pathetic.

If they were going to favor any class for money it would be rangers. How many casuals play ranger………..answer almost all casuals play ranger even though rangers mostly suck for everything but spvp.

The vid is irrelevant. That’s the point. It has no relevance in this conversation. WvW is not meant to be balanced. There is major imbalance. And that’s not what im discussing. I’m focusing on sPvP. So.. that video doesn’t say anything.

I main necro and I can tell you that they will be getting nerfed soon. That’s neither here nor there.

And to godmoney nothing you’ve said has any real validity. You just said that it’s the spvp maps fault. IDK how that’s possible. I really don’t. I actually don’t get what you’re saying at all. I’m sorry.

But then again they did buff necros last patch (first real balance buffs since release) so they must obviously be Anets favorite. My bad. I’m not sure I can converse with you on this topic since you’re really not saying anything. Except mocking me (very child-like btw).

I am pretty sure that Guardian, Elementalist and i think Engineer are the 3 top played classes, I rarely see any Mesmers in S/TPvP. I played for like 4 hours the other night and i saw ONE.

Mesmer isnt as high played as you seem to think. Have you thought that maybe, just maybe they are played because they are FUN? They are strong yes, they are not Overpowered.

The problem wit this game, to many rubbish players lose to a class and because they lost they scream about how overpowered that class is. Rather then just accepting that they got beat by a better player.

LOL, I literally just gave you a video of a warrior owning people after you say warriors are so bad. Then I tell you why people think warriors are bad which has everything to do with map design and domination points. It’s pretty fricking hard to play a glass cannon mdps in any mmo when you have no room to run out. This is like mmo 101. My whitelion in WARhammer didnt just go in and stay there, you hit and run just like the perfect example I gave you in the video. The fact that you can’t comprehend this only says something about you. The warrior seems to have no problem when he has room to run out until his cd’s are up.

Some people get good, some people say “poor me” and just suck at the game. That’s life.

TBH, what Warriors need is a bit more sustain. Their DPS is doin’ well enough, and they can be specced for some serious runspeed. Not quite Guard level tankosity, but something more than they currently possess.

Like I said numerous times. The problems with warriors in spvp has more to do with the maps and domination play style than the actual design of the class. Mdps needs to be able to run out of fights temporarily until they can cycle their cd’s.

In that video you notice the warrior kiting out fights then turning around to crush opponents. Thats hard to do when your expected to sit on point and some of the points are so small and claustrophobic that there’s basically no where to go to get beyond 1200 range which is key for a mdps who does not have stealth and sustain.

That being said yes I recognize that warriors need the food/nourishment buffs that wvw provides, but even more so the fact that Wvw has plenty of room to kite out of bad situations is why warrior can excel there.

I’m not going to argue though that warriors don’t need some love in spvp. I just don’t see how you do that though when most domination points are so tiny a necro’s well covers the entire area and a warrior has no where to run out 1200 range until they can turn around and smash face.

IMO the fundamental flaw with this games spvp is the domination point and that the maps have way too many objects and obstacles in them. If they doubled the area around each domination point so that classes like engineers and necros’ can’t blanket every square inch with turrets and wells.

I’m not even talking about the domination point itself, I am talking about the area immediately around the domination point being way to small for many builds and classes that rely on kiting or temporarily disengaging.

I believe they’re married to domination because it’s easier to spectate a point rather than a entire map. I also think that they’re sacrificing too much in actual game play to cater to “esport” or their hopes of.

As Advent mentioned they need more sustain if they’re expected to stand on points or even near them.

you are describing the problm. warrior is reduce to a damage dealing class that rests battles…….

the design of a warrior is meant to be a high in combat sustain class. In fact, longer people fight a warrior, the more issues other class at winning.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/overpowered :

  1. to overcome by superior force : subdue
  2. to affect with overwhelming intensity
  3. to provide with more power than is needed or desirable

So no, you’re wrong, it’s not.

Also, we’re still waiting for you to explain how the 1v1 tourneys go the way they do if Mesmers are so overpowered. The devs sneakily changed balance for them?

Taking “damage” from clones while not being able to hit the mesmer for 3 seconds is by no means overpowered.
There are counters to a mesmer using stealth, block for3 seconds or wahtever, when your block ends he comesout fo stealth and you can dodge his opener. Or you can just move far enough away so he cant open out of stealth… lots of counters imo.

looks like u don’t even know the difference between clones and phantasms, as clones don’t deal a great dmg to u. phantasms do hit u hard, especially the berserker, but look at ranger pets that knock u down, thieves hit u from stealth all the time, necros knock u down, fear u off and destroy u real quick if u arent careful.

u dont seem to know what u even are taking about …3seconds or soo…u come across to us like this:

so, err some mesmer killed me and i died more than once to him, he was like perma invis and then he like stealthed for like 3 sec and was like invul and had like clones destroy me when they run towards me and they are like totally killing me.. i like want to like ermmm ..i want to kill everything with button 1.

u know what …roll a thief!

I cant tell if youre trolling me, or just didnt even read my post.
did you read the OP? in the OP he talked about taking damage from clones, i merely quoted that. ofcourse i know clones except staff dont do damage, ofcourse i know mesmers cant perma stealth, not even once did i mention i wasnt aware of that, you just pulled that out of nowhere and acted like i said that.

I dont mean to be rude, but you leave me no choice, and this will be my last reply.

When I see these ‘devs buff X class because its their main’ I get a severe case of the facepalm.

A multi-million dollar business directed by people who buff a class because they play it

Analogy: MacDonalds top boss designs an hamburger. He is not happy because other hamburgers sell more than the one he invented. He orders all MacDonalds to put 20% less salt and ketchup and mustard on all hamburgers. Except his own. So that it will sell more than the others.

:)

It’s just funny. But understandable. My kid brother used to yell at me saying I put cheat codes that made player one win over player two when we played Street Fighter. Side by side. On the computer.

Now we have forums.
