I’m new to Mesmer, and just curious, why do condishatter builds take sword over scepter in most of the builds I’ve seen when scepter is the condition weapon. What am I missing? Please educate me.

I think there was another thread in here recently asking the same thing.

The sword has far too much utility to not be used. The scepter although it does put on conditions, it doesn’t do it well enough to throw away the utility of the sword.

Sword Pros:

- 2 second invuln with blurred frenzy
- iLeap can be both used to immob, and to juke. You can juke by iLeaping at the top of a cliff, and when your opponent jumps down to chase, you iLeap back.
- You are considered a clone when you shatter, so being up close will allow you to apply more conditions per shatter than if you’re just kiting.

Scepter may have its use in certain circumstances but the sword is the overall better 1h

I switch a lot between sword and scepter. For instance I found scepter better for dealing with Vet Karka than sword or when you are going mono on mono in PvE. Sword is a great boon stripper (e.g. raid) and stacking situations.

Condimesmer in PvE ? WTF the only conditions on mesmers are useless againsts monsters …

Mesmer can stack bleeds with Duelist’s Discipline and Sharper Images, which is where the bulk of condition Mesmer’s damage comes from in PvE. The recent quality-of-life changes that Mesmer got (Mistrust/Malicious Sorcery buffs, scepter auto doesn’t override illusions anymore, and Duelist’s Discipline’s bleed chance buffed form 33% > 50%) were quite nice to condition Mesmer’s DPS, so much so that it likely surpasses power Mesmer’s DPS over long periods of time.
