Mimic copies 12 boons. How is that possible when there are only 9 boons in the game?

Just thinking out loud but… could Mimic was originally intended to mimic enemy transformations and conjures too? Could actually make the skill useful and not just a lame copy of Arcane Thievery

Nah, they just did that to ensure that it would always copy every boon, reducing the need for additional coding if they happen to add more boons in the future.

maybe there’s probably more than one version of a certain boon…like how there’s 2 versions of revial or some class skills when traited like blink or guardian sancturary

Maybe it means we get 3 secret boons that no other profession gets to compensate for how useless this skill otherwise is.

I haven’t tested it, but I’m reasonably confident that the 3 mystery boons are simply Endure Pain, Berserker’s Stance and Quickness. I’m sure someone will soon tell me if I’m mistaken.

They’re not. I haven’t tested it either, but they’re not. You can’t do anything to stances that affects boons such as stripping, stealing, or corrupting.

While that would be as OP as all F, at least the skill would actually do something interesting and noteworthy.

Still room for 1 more boon though, I wonder what it’s going to be… maybe it’s delayed to expansion #2.

I’ve always felt Mimic would make for an absolutely amazing elite:

Mimic
Cast: 2 or 3 seconds, see below
Range: 2000 units
Duration: 12 seconds
Cooldown: 180 seconds
Effect: Copy target friendly or enemy character. You cannot use the target’s elite ability, and will inherit all current cooldowns and limitations, including all negative status effects and conditions. You will lose all such gained effects when Mimic ends, however you will keep the lower of your original health and your mimic health when the effect ends. Casts slower when used on allied characters.

It should also have a rather obvious animation of glass shards flying off the target and forming upon the Mesmer during the cast.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Mimic should have copied one of your oponents utility skills at random to your utility bar for a single use from the start. Along with copying the skill it would take on the copied skill’s cooldown making it fair if the mesmer managed to copy an elite skill.

Interesting concept – except ANet intentionally designed skills to not require ally targeting. Even reviving doesn’t require it.

However, it would be an interesting Phantasm skill. Activate once to copy the target and again (Echo) to summon.

Alacrity is currently not a boon. So will they dumb down the skills by one or is there a yet unheard of boon?
