WoC: Is it supposed to bounce?
I’ve noticed this as well. I can be fighting two enemies side by side (with me too far away for WoC to bounce back to me) and only one enemy will take damage/receive conditions. The same happens whether or not I solo the enemies or have 3 clones out.
I have also noticed that with Illusions VII, Illusionary Elasticity, if WoC bounces back to me it will continue bouncing to a different enemy as intended.
Definitely sounds like a bug to me.

I have noticed some odd things two. While practicing on the dummies in Lion’s arch, mine would bounce from one to another. However, when I made a clone, all bounces came to me instead. After shattering, it went back to bouncing between the training dummies.
Maybe it’s a range problem ? The projectile bounces to the nearest ally or enemy, so if you are too close (or a clone is too close) it will always bounce back to you (or your clone) then the target then back.
I think it is a range issue too, because the projectile moves so incredibly slowly it gets outranged very easily. The actual bounce range isn’t 1200 either but you probably know that already.
with any bouncing effect you’ve got to be within HALF the distance of the range of the skill used
WoC works best close up- you should have perma chaos armour so you wanna get hit anyway
One aspect of this could be that bounce skills won’t always initially bounce to nearby unaggro’d enemies. The idea probably being to avoid unwanted aggro. Though I thought that only happened on neutral (no threat proximity) enemies, it might be occurring there too.
I don’t think its range because I could throw it at a mob that had another one standing 3 feet away and I was at maybe 1100 range. I threw it at mob 1 an it didn’t bounce to mob 2. Only mob 1 came running at me. Once mob 1 got fairly close, then the bounce came to me.
Doing the human noble quest where you have to escort the paper guy and his bull. I killed each of the mobs one at a time because the bounce wouldn’t go to any other mobs. I tried staying away so I was too far away from the bounce and nothing. no mob other than the one I was attacking had any health loss until I actively switched to targeting them. But they were all definately within range because they were practically standing on each other attacking the bull.
Range issue, it took me a while to figure this out when I first started using a staff. It seems that the 1200 range means that the ball will only travel 1200 total. So if your at the max edge of your range it will only hit the one baddie. With all the defensive abilities the staff gives you I tend to be almost right on top of the mobs when I use the staff just to get the most bounces out of it.
I think it may be something like that, but after playing with it assuming that’s the issue, I still can’t get it to bounce reliably. I used the plains worms to test with, though they tend to link, but I was watching the glowy ball to see if it bounced and checking for conditions, and even halving the distance to 600ish and throwing at a worm, it wouldn’t bounce to the worm right next to it which should have been somewhere around 900-1000 total distance.
From what I’ve observed the bounces only happen between target types; mob→you or other player→mob→you or other player…never mob→mob or you→you or other player.
