Is pistol build for condition builds? or power? It seems very worthwhile when I equip sinister but when using either power or conditions it becomes less “focussed”

I am running 2 mesmers
1 with rabid and sinister gear (2 sets of staff, scepter, torch)
1 with zerk gear (2 swords, a focus and a GS)

I made an ascneded pistol but I am really struggling which mesmer to fit it on.
For the power build it is an interupt, some might and that’s about it, yes skill lengthening, quickness I know.
For the condition build it is AoE confusion, bleeds an interupt, some might and that’s about it, yes skill lengthening, quickness I know.

It seems it would be most usefull on my sinister build as an alternate to staff… but when looking at it it also fits next to GS on my power mesmer…

I don’t know what to choose anymore.. I might have to resort to crafting another one I guess…

Anybody have comments ? Is interupt mesmer so much better , and should it be zerk or sinister?

Pistol is good on certain builds. I think the pistol trait that applies bleeds is bugged now.. unless they fixed it?

pDuelist can certainly be used with precion, condition, and/or power. It fires 8 times, which is great. But if you take it with phantasmal fury, and the bleed on crit trait you auto get from that line, the pDuelist can stack huge amounts of bleed over time; with something that has precision, power, and condi, like rampagers or sinister, the combo works really well together.

Honestly, I think its a matter of the rest of your build. you can go either way.

Here is a quick example of what I’m talking about. I didnt put a lot of thought into it, just threw it together fast. It has no gear, but think rampager or sinister or something.

Take a close look: although it does some direct conditions, it also uses blinds and interrupts with some triggers off both. You have two built in auto skill interrupts, plus the poss proc interrupt or blind due to block off chaos storm and the poss proc of blind off chaos armor, in addition to the rest of the condis generated from the skills.

It also adds some direct damage output to your phantasms too.

Pistol has always been found in power, condition, and hybrid builds.

Pistol is the best offhand weapon for Mesmer imo. Universally speaking, it can be found in any kind of build. Power, condi hybrid etc. S/P Sc/T condi, Staff S/P rupts, i personally like GS S/P. Pistol 5 is basically Mesmer’s skillshot, it hits fast and bounces 3 times. The 1st target hit is instantly stunned, second is dazed and 3rd is blinded. Sets up beautiful bursties like pistol 5 into sword 3. So if your rupt, you can see how someone just became perma immobolized. Awesome for stunlock spec’s as well. My only advice is, to be on your toes because you can’t easily stealth like torch off hand and don’t erp by casting pistol when Mesmer iwarden is active… But other than that, pistol eats everyone up like nom nom, since shatter removes boons. Easy stun at that point. Also the phant hits probs top 3 hardest of all phants, but its only a single target attack that hits like 7-8 times and can crit for each hit. lol

I really like quickness with Furious Interruptions in pvp for some of the fasts 2 second no scope moments where you interrupt the first skill and just proceed to throw out phantasms left right and center, feels so good. Best part is it is on a 5 sec ICD really love this trait sometimes over boonstrip.
