I’ve been running condition builds in tPvP for the past few months, and am thinking of returning to WvW. Now that I have the money to afford a new set of armor or two, I was wondering if Rabid gear is still my best bet for a condition-based WvW build, or if I’d be better of with Carrion. Also, if you have condition damage WvW builds, please post them here, as I’d like to see whats viable! I doubt I can just bring my tpvp build over :P

Thanks!

What’s your tPvP condition build? There’s many decent WvW condition builds now and chances are your tPvP build will do well in WvW with a few tweaks.

I think that Simonoly’s advice holds true; you could probably adapt your current build to suit your WvW needs, which could be advantageous since you’re already familiar with that particular playstyle.

However, if you’re looking for something new, you could check out the build in my signature. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback in-game about how well it works, and as such I’m going to write up a little guide and make a video for it. In the meantime though, here is the gist of it:

The staff is the main weapon and is used for bleed and burn applications and general kiting. I probably stay in staff about 70% of the time.

The sword and torch work wonders as well, though sword might seem unconventional for a condition build. The sword/torch combo serves as an excellent defensive pivot with a bit of burst potential. On of my favorite things to do is Prestige → iLeap → Swap → Blurred Frenzy. That provides very nice AoE burst damage and can really lay on the pressure when facing multiple enemies as is often the case in WvW. Also, since you have 80% condition duration, your immobilizes will be almost 4s and you can maintain a pretty high uptime on immobilize if need be.

The bulk of the build’s damage is done via staff clones and through the on-death clone traits. Eventually you will reach a level where you are very much aware of the positioning and order of your clones, such that you can replace them as needed to trigger the aforementioned traits.

Finally, I love the sheer amount of defense that this build has. It has high uptimes on protection, aegis, and regeneration and has active defense in the form of blink, phase retreat, and blurred frenzy. On top of all of that you have stealth and lots of toughness.

I’ve had lots of success with this build, so I hope you consider giving it a try. Hopefully you find something that works well for you.

Rabid is the best bet for my tastes.
20/20/30 – crippling dissipation and cleansing conflagration / retaliatory shield (so many useful traits here, your choice but i love it with all the block/aegis) and DE / illusionary defense (or master of manipulation, or debilitating dissipation if you want traited staff), debilitating dissipation and PU.
Staff and scepter/torch.
Decoy/arcane thievery, MoC, veil or whatever/blink and MI.

I use this in tpvp. I’d obviously change traits around for a more aoe-oriented build, but I don’t really know what’s viable in WvW these days (obviously I’d like a build that gets me a nice amount of loot bags) for group play, roaming, etc.
