My Builds at XtremeTheory.com
I’m sure it has been done plenty, but here is a WvW front line boon sharing mesmer build that I came up with. I haven’t tested it, but it seems like it would be tank enough and should be able to stack tons of boons up on allies.
Your links always get blocked for porn and not safe so can’t look at it at work lol. But is it basically the same thing that someone put on metabattle recently?
So the question that you always need to wrestle with regarding a frontline Mesmer build is …but why?
Can you survive? Yeah, reasonably well. You’ve got stability from shatters, so combined with the stability change you should be pretty ok for most pushes. You’ve got decent health and armor and the channeled blocks from shield, so you’ll usually survive. However, this doesn’t answer the question of why.
If you’re really going for a boonshare comp, you get the boonshare rolling before you actually engage, that way you don’t have important boons stripped before they can be shared. Additionally, you don’t generate any important boons in the middle of a fight. All the aoe BD boons are basically garbage compared to what your group should be maintaining with just normal upkeep, and the quickness/stab on shatter don’t last long enough to share them in a meaningful way. You don’t have a real way of applying resistance, so that’s out too.
Lastly, you’ll barely do enough damage to even tag things with your sword cleave, you have essentially zero aoe, and your only big control skill skills are either on a long cd or like to disappear upon hitting a funny wall or a recently downed enemy.
So we get back to the question of …but why? You don’t contribute anything to a frontline group outside of the initial boonshare that should have been done before the engage. During a fight you’re just soaking up healing and boons that could instead be getting applied to an actually useful class like warrior or guardian. There’s really no reason whatsoever to run a frontline Mesmer build.

No it is not the same as the metabattle build.
Not sure why my link is blocked, might want to talk to whoever your system admin is to have it unblocked, I assure you the link is safe.
Take out the commander trinkets for wanderers for more hp.
Change out the bread for plate of mussel gnashblade.
I went this route:
Other than quickness, it doesn’t do any single one thing great, it just brings things I think we’re lacking / I wouldn’t end up being trivialized with overlapping. Its more of a subtle build, beyond the obnoxious time warp bubbles ;-)
It doesn’t “guardian staff 1” but that wasn’kittens intention. I use it for 5-20 play.

Well the reason of why is so that the front line gets more boons since the push is painful a lot of times. Being able to push with every boon in the game on you and 25 stacks of might does make the push a bit better.
I haven’t personally run this yet, but we had someone running with our group running a build similar and our front line seemed to be a lot better off for having that mesmer with us.

Agreed for the most part, except it will be able to provide additional boons from the shatters like the stability, vigor, regen, and most importantly, the resistance that you get from F5 and durability runes.

I’ve been thinking swapping out the GS for Staff so that it will get more tags and have more boons to share. I would know the damage won’t be much, but it is mostly there for utility. I think having staff would be the icing on the cake vs running GS personally. I think I’m going to go ahead and change that.

Like I said above, the shatters and the resistance from Continuum Split is a big help in the front line. One of the most commonly said front line things is “I got condi bombed” lol. So if the front line is running durability runes and this mesmer is also running them and using Continuum Split, that is permanent resistance in the front line essentially. Unless you play front line, you won’t know why the tears of joy are flowing at that idea lol.
Updated the build, same link. Opted for staff over GS, some different sigils and changed a couple traits around.
Those sigils of concentration are nearly a complete waste. Don’t get hung up on “zomg 100%!” I’m not sure what I’d replace it with. Maybe two leeching sigils for a little sustain. I’d probably go with the on swap wrather than interupt version though. Guess that’s on you to decide if you want reliability over high risk/reward based on the somewhat randomness of interupting.
Plate of mussel gnashblade can be found under others section of foods. With your high toughness it’s far better than 70toughness/5% boon duration.

I’ve been thinking the same with the sigils. I’m likely going to drop that for something like Fire sigil maybe for the extra AOE tags.
The only reason I took the 70 toughness food was so I don’t have to do more PvE to get the plater of mussel gnashblade food lol… It is the better option, I agree.

Ewwwwww don’t use fire sigils! Like get hydromancy instead, at least though can crit aswell as do something useful with soft cc.
For the food, realize you are indeed going to have to do pve (dragon stand) for both the commanders and wanderers. If you use command/wanderers trinket split you are looking at a total or 200 crystalline ore for weapons/armor/trinkets (x2). The food is 100 crystalline ore. So Ya total 300 crystalline ore. But the food, that’s like good for every Frontline (and some others like ele) and should be on your account if you like wvw in general (I used like 3x in one sentence).
I do indeed have both foods myself ;-)

I’ve been running the Bowl of Mussel soup on all of my front liners, I just can’t seem to get the time to get back to PvE for the other lol.
Won’t work. As soon as your frontline leaps in, you’ll fall behind and be good for absolutely nothing.
Also, why wouldn’t you pick up Illusionary Inspiration? Relying just on the actual Signet Utility won’t cut it if you intend to go in and out of bombs more than once.
And Illusionary Defender? Did you ever try to use your iLeap in a frontline situation? Phantasms, let alone clones won’t live longer than half a second (if that). Worthless trait for Frontline. I don’t know how your frontline plays, but with this build you’ll definitely be a liability.
EDIT: Oh, just use the gw2skills url so everyone can see it. The owners deserve that much aswel.
