Guild Wars 2

I’m looking for some classes that make a strong partner with synergy—where combined they are greater than the sum of their parts. I’m thinking something along the lines of spirit ranger (buffing phantasms), but I’m not sure. I’d really appreciate some input (and your reasoning) based on your own experiences. Thanks!

A really good thief.

Definitely Thief. They fix the holes in our Stealth game, and can use their speed to keep the enemy busy long enough to eat Butterfly.
Another fun one is Guardian. All of those buffs, and their AoE Stability tricks also help a Mesmer out.

Thief seems solid for synergy. Guardian is always good support. Engi seems it could be pretty good support as well. Has anyone tried spirit ranger—I’m assuming spirits buff phantasms.

Engi for the sustained support or Warrior for the aggro magnet.

Warrior. Hands down, warrior. Sounds off but most folks think of them as an easy kill. That let’s me melt face and provide massive distraction. By the time groups realize they should have targeted me to begin with its over. 2v5< made easy. My warrior buddy rolls in as tank setup and entangles people. GS and S/P. Warrior provides swiftness air runes fills in the blanks. Seems to work best in a shatter or phantasm build. I tried a lol you can’t kill us build in a solder gear 20/20/30 prismatic boon sharing build. Funny as hell by good for nothing really.
I’m starting to ramble in any case.

I had a lot of fun running duo the other night with a ranger. Maybe he was just a really good player, but we chewed through several camps and opponents.

I actually like condition engineers too, they never target drop but they can kite really well with bombs or grenades. Usually the rngineer just uns circles shile i melt people in the back/low hp targets :P.

@Osicat — Can you tell me the build(s) you recommend for thief duo set up? Your guide says heavy is more group focus and original is better for small man--yet you were using heavy in the vid you linked above (which was awesome btw). Do you have any specifics on your partner’s set up? Also, thank you for sharing your set ups with the community. Your guides are excellent.

Depends what build I’m running. If I’m running a tankier spec, a really good thief or warrior. Have fun running a synergy spec with another mesmer in my guild. We both run the 10/30/0/0/30 zerk spec to duo roam, but he uses runes of the Eagle (I have divinity) to deal more damage to the ones I initially burst.

Then again, I have 10 armor sets to choose from, so depends what I want to do.

Another mesmer. 1 condi and 1 shatter so they have to react to 2 different kinds of damage.

@Alissah, I run eather S C Heavy 3.0 or Non shatter Condition when I duo ram with a thief. this as I want a spec who not only do serious dmg and create a big amount of clones for split enemy oponents. I want a build who not leav me dead and is a liability for my partner.
