Your favorite shatter combo?
Me personally its a mirror blade blink+mind wrack (3 clone obv.)
You get to catch all your mirror blade bounces plus give a lil surpirse mindwrack when they think you are too far away with your GS.
Same as yours except replace Mind Wrack with Diversion, and then Mirror Images + Mind Wrack.
If you get an interrupt and have the traits, its going to be 20 stacks of vulnerability before Mind Wrack hits =D

Yeah I do that sometimes, however I like to save diversion for stomps/resses. And I have been making so many portal plays lately that I don’t have mirror images on my bar :/

I usually have a Power Lock (Mantra of Distraction) left for stomping anyway. Lockdown builds ftw.

Same as you – MB, blink, (optional dodge) MW, MS.
Especially satisfying when you unload on several clustered opponents.
I like that one too but I’d rather not waste my blink for that. I like to get my 3 clones up, wait until i can create more and let tem 6 illusions shatter at once (F3 → F1) for the rupt n’ vuln.

For me, it’s:
Sword 3 – GS 2 – F1 + Mind Stab
Momekas Namu
For me, it’s:
Sword 3 – GS 2 – F1 + Mind Stab
When I picked my mesmer back up I tried doing sword. It just doesn’t have as good of combos as staff imo. Not to mention iLeap STILL misses all the kitten time even in range.
I love staff! Every build I play, has staff. Except shatter. even full zerker builds i am using my staff.
Momekas Namu
Ideally I’ll have something like this: GS4 – GS2 – SW3 – iLeap – SW2 + F1
IF the iLeap connects, that is.. :-)
Commander – Jam Death [Jd]
Fissure of Woe

While sword is weaker than before, with ileap as it is now you can pull off some sick surprise jumps on people on the various ledges as well as tricky evasive manoeuvres.
Most of the time ileap works fine for me when in range – of course the swap nerfs are annoying and also things like an enemy jumping into range (ie guardians) facetanking with retal while you’re trying to use BF defensively at range to say avoid a Rapid Fire… I wish BF would at least get a minor damage buff.
I also trait sword and I don’t think I could live without the reduced cooldown on both #2 and #3 anymore – even at the expense of 1200 blink.
I don’t really use a rotation and/or combo. I tend to Diversion before I Mind Wrack though, 4 stacks of Might and 25 stacks of Vulnerability after a Mirror Blade has been tossed in their faces, which again is another 6 stacks of Might (10), kinda helps. But those things can come at random times depending on the fight, I don’t always open with the same things, nor do I always continue in a predictable rotation as I fight. I guess I tend to shatter after Illusionary Riposte, depends if I used it while I had any Phantasms and/or clones out already, or how low the health of the opponent is. Nope, too hard to just say I have a favorite combo, as I don’t have a specific combo.
PS: Never, ever, use Illusionary Leap right after swapping to your Sword. Any decent player knows that is the first thing you will likely do. Throw them off by using it randomly or expect it to be dodged in most cases.
Seafarer’s Rest
if i manage a proper 6+ clone summon.
if i manage that, i dont even care about dieing anymore

Using ileap is fine anytime – it’s what’s done before/afterwards that counts.
If it forces a dodge, great; if it was preceded by a forced dodge through mirror blade or izerker, great; if the clone is likely to survive a few seconds then get it out and let them make their move. I agree with what you’re saying that sword can be highly predictable if used in a certain way.
Sometimes it can be used as a misdirection for the purpose of escape/repositioning – for example if stealthing to run away, throwing an ileap back at the opponent(s) can make it look as if you are about to jump back in whereas you go on your merry way in another direction. Sounds silly but I’m surprised at how useful something small like that can be.
The only problem that requires careful monitoring is that the clone dying (if breathed on) breaks swap – I still hate this change because it limits the amount of mind games you can play with it.

While I don’t play sw/t as often, It has my favorite combo → Torch 4, iLeap, swap, Mirror Blade, Mind Stab, Mind Wrack after a little pause so I get the torch burn and damage off at the same time.
Also, iLeap into Moa, swap, Mirror Blade, dodge, Mind Wrack is sweet against a lot of classes.
Mine is Phase Retreat + shatter. If you do it quickly, the shatters counts as you’re near the enemy, so you hit them as 2 illusions, plus putting yourself in a safe position.
Also a very fun and effective shatter combo can be obtained:
- Phase Retreat+Diversion-swap-Mirror Blade+Mind Wrack.
- Illusionary Leap+Swap-Mirror Images+Phase Retreat+Mind Wrack.
The best is people don’t expect you can deal a big spike while in Staff.

The best one is pushing Distortion and seeing 2 Immunes with Swift, Fury Might appearing on the Thief who just ported to you.
if i manage a proper 6+ clone summon.
if i manage that, i dont even care about dieing anymore
Watched it, expected something awesome, IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME … until they all shatter and miss the target …

Haha, totally! xD

Ooh, this is also incredibly satisfying.
I’ll add swap target → Diversion while stomping an enemy being rezzed by another enemy.
Or blink → Diversion to interrupt a stomp.
