Hey there phantasmagoric Mesmers!

I’m looking for a build that fits my playstyle in WvW. I’m not much for solo or harassing. I prefer to roll with a group, buffing my allies and debuffing / destroying the other group. Often times we bump up against a rampaging zerg in WvW and a standstill occurs that can last a long time. I’m looking for a build that will destabilize the other zerg. Perhaps allow me to port in and throw down various skills, then get the heck out of there. I’ve seen videos to this effect where a mesmer will wreck / severely weaken an entire zerg allowing their allies to sweep in and finish the job. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Glamour traits. Have fun !

Builds don’t matter in zerg versus door. Just take some AoE skills so you get loot bags like the rest of the people doing WvW.

Glamour skills are effective at zerg-busting even without the traits.

The best build for what you suggest is a glamour build because it bypasses the 5 target AOE limit. Spreading massive amounts of the confusion condition will break up a zerg, or better, kill them, like nothing else. Coordinate with a necro, and you can literally dominate many times your number.

Having some decent bunker abilities are also preferred.
You don’t want to try and bust a zerg on a glass cannon, if 3 ppl look at you you’re dead
With my current build i often go up into the enemy zerg, place a chaos storm under me and pop chaos armor and watch all those guys waste their time shooting at me. Meanwhile you throw up some phantasms and clones. while i’m inside enemy lines i also like to use GS#5 and throw a bunch of enemies towards our zerg.
After about 10 seconds you either blink back to your own zerg, or watch how your zerg pushes forward to your position.

It doesn’t always work though, and is probably not advisable to use against strong guild zergs

You can take feedback instead of arcane thievery for more chaos effect.
It’s just a nice balanced build i tried to make, still a work in progress.
You can use another weaponset instead of the GS, but the staff i find crucial for bunkering.
The last 10 in chaos traits is also optional.
