So, I’ve made the transition from knights to berzerker gear and I’m kind of floundering on how much defense I really need. My gameplay continues to improve as I become more comfortable with using all of our inherent dmg avoidance skills. Here is my build 20/20/15/15/0 zerker gear/weps and divinity runes.

The 15 in chaos and insp. are meant to synergize to provide at least some minor defense while bursting in melee. Seems to work well and I’d like to keep these points if possible.
I’m also very sold on the omnom pies: offensive and defensive at the same time +70 precision seems very good to me. I’m still unsure on the stones vs oil….after some testing on a vet giant in Orr (6 times), the stones seems more powerful than the crit increase from the oil, but I very well may be wrong here.
I guess my question boils down to: How much more toughness/vitality do I really need for PVE and WvW zergs other than the 15 points in chaos (that I’d like not to loose). Any? I’m very nervous about throwing those expensive divinity runes away for ruby’s only to find I miss the boost to other defensive stats. I’m pretty sure you guys are gonna tell me to just do it though The pic below is unbuffed by food/stones/oil.

In pve you can run with no points in chaos without a problem. A lot of builds put points in inspiration for phantasm damage and support utilities (glamours, reflection with focus and so on).
Id trade DE for phantasmal fury and i dont like two weapon training traits at the same time but since you dont have IC it can be a good choice.
Id remove 15 points from chaos and put them in inspiration.
Ruby orbs are fine. Divinity runes are fine. It depends on your wealth.
For WvW, if you zerg you need to stay alive and in order to do this your knight gear is useful.

on domi i use III and X
dueling IV and X
inspiration IV VIII
gears are berserker except for celestial coat and pants with runes of dolyak5 and superior rune of divinity,
trinkets are all berserker ascended with precision and vital infusion
weapons are
GS zerker with sigil of fire
sword zerker with sigil of air, focus zerker with sigil of accuracy.

I fail to see any reason to put 5 points in dueling instead of inspiration. The stats are probably better than the trait itself and there are so many useful traits in inspiration.
I’m a shatter build but:
For PvE my base stats are 2365 Power, 1834 Precision, 1058 Toughness, 932 Vitality, and 95 Crit Damage.
In WvW I swap to 2335 Power. 1632 Precision, 1389 Toughness, 1084 Vitality, and 76 @ crit damage.
I like to have 2,3k DEF. Calc said it’s -20% damage reduction. And i only lose Crit damage only from Coat and Leggings. I Heard the crit damage from those EQ are not really nice compared to Gloves, Shoulder and Boots.
As For Helm, Previously i used Knight but changed into Celestial. Since Celestial Helm give +3% Crit damage. Even BErserker Helm only give 2%. Overall it’s nice trade. The reason i like to have crit damage is power modifier in Mesmer is kinda low.
