i don’t believe the MH pistol should be a thing. Yes the mesmer is missing a good ranged 1h weapon but i don’t think it goes with the deulest vibe arenanet was going for. i have been reading threads on it to see if you guys can change my mind on the subject but more often than no, when it’s brought up, it begins to look far too much like the thief IMO.

instead i say this:
a ranged dagger build

the daggers will play to the mesmers showmanship quality and resemble dagger thrower street performers and such. IMO a lot more lore friendly to the class.

Daggers have more of an Assassiny feel to them. it just doesn’t seem like a weapon of choice nobles would use.

I mean, 2 nobles get into a fight. 1 pulls out a sword and a focus. that’s plausable. the second guy pulls out a dagger and torch?

It seems like a nice idea, but like you said with pistol, it just doesn’t fit the aristocratic dueliest.

hadn’t thought of that. i was thinking more along the lines of a street performer thowing knives at their assistant, not so much nobles.

To me, the mesmer gives off far more of a professional illusionist vibe, as opposed to the sort of street performance/vaudville action that you hint at with the throwing knives.

I don’t necessarily see a noble when I think of a mesmer (Which is why I made mine a baseborn-smallfolk). Mine is more of a robin hood type illusionist. The kind that enters a noble’s party under the pretext of a fool and while his illusions dazzle them, he walks around cutting purses. Dagger fits this idea of the mesmer quite well.

I’d love a Dagger for offhand, then it could be more like a Florentine type of duelist. :P

Throwing cards would be pretty awesome.

I would love to see some rapiers…

and a dagger offhand …..

Would be my dream mesmer weapons.

Main hand focus

I wouldn’t mind Fans. I know it sounds odd but throwing Fans and also using fan’s to create illusionary stunts. GW1 had some but UO had them as well.

(and no not the electric ones you plug into your wall)

What you say is not bad. THe ranged dagger caster is a good idea, but i personally would give all weapons to all classes.

Rapier or epee would be sweet but not enough differentiation from swords.

Fan would be appropriate but probaly only fits as an offhand.

Remember its not just about the mesmer. If you introduce a new weapon at least one other profession needs to use it.

One of the trait lines is called duelist

Pistols totally work with the idea of duelist

I would love to have mainhand pistol

If you don’t like it, don’t use it

IMO, we don’t need any more weapons, we just need Scepter buffed/fixed/changed. Same goes for Torch, even though it is offhand.
