You kite like a boss, and stack insane amounts of bleed and confusion, all while continuously stunning and immobilizing the enemy. If they get to close you have access to blinds which add even more confusion.

Mistrust and Confusing combatants will be great additions to any condition interrupt build.
CI and scepter traits are even more powerful.

I’m probably still going to take Inspiration because traited focus is too much fun in that kind of build, even if not optimal, but depending on how the “Elite spec” line turns out (as it is rumoured to be cc/support oriented, and could have “slow” condition access) I may drop either chaos or duelling and pick that up instead.

Otherwise taking Duelling, Chaos and Illusions with Scepter/Pistol and Staff will be nasty for a condition interrupt build.

I just came to the mesmer boards to ask about this. I am a bit down on my condition necro right now and the new confusion stuff looks like a lot of fun. I just snagged a set of Perplexity runes in preparation. The mesmer traits have great synergy, it seems like it could be a fun build.

I have been using nightmare, torment and antitoxin, but now with things like Mistrust and Confusing combatants (buffed tbh), it might be worth running perplexity especially if focusing on interrupts.

Mistrust with Chaos Storm proc or Diversion AoE proc will be glorious.

Chaos is pretty important for condirupt because CI is a good trait now and will be even better then because of the merge with BI.

So that leaves one choice – between Duelling, Inspiration or Illusions – with Duelling being the obvious choice because of sharper images, confusing combatants and access to mistrust.

So I think it will have to be Duelling/Chaos/Chronomancy in this case, which means almost certain weapon set of x/Pistol (or Scepter/Shield) + Staff.

I think I will still prefer Duelling/Chaos/Inspiration because I enjoy Focus >>>>>>> Pistol., and I’m not sure how much I’m likely to enjoy shield.

Dueling/Chaos/Chronomancy looks awesome, I’ll definitely be aiming to try that for my Condition-interrupt build.

Staff for certain, then Scepter/Shield looks insanely powerful. That shield skill that launches that sweet wave of interrupts…. I can already imagine a nice pulse or two of Mistrust each time I use that!

Anyway as this thread is solely about condirupt rather than any other build, it seems Duelling/Chaos/Chrono is the only way to go, if taking chrono (but I may still prefer duelling/chaos/inspiration or other core trait line combinations).

Dueling only for de. No matter were it is it would be needed. De needs to b baseline!!

For condi interrupt I’d quite obviously go for Mistrust.
For condi shatter DE.
For condi Phantasm meh. It’s more for the Minors rather than the GM Majors.

I must stress slow is very very bad for condirupt. Remember one of our main conditions is confusion which loses dps because skill activations are 50% slower.

Depends how they are changing confusion. From POI it looked more like torment for skill activation. Actually curious if it is just like torment, so slow will actually improve confusion damage. Something like “Confusion deals X per second and double damage to enemies activating a skill.”

True. But that’s not why I’d take Chronomancy for condi rupt. You don’t have to take any Slow related traits at all. It’s all for the Elite Well, really.

Absolutely agree. Obviously Chrono will be the line everyone runs the first few weeks after the patch, but once they learn the mechanics of it and then start to fairly compare Chrono to other lines, I think we’ll see a lot of builds opting out of Chrono. (Not to mention there will likely be some nerfs along the way too.)

Chrono has some really neat stuff, and so will all Elite specs I’m sure since they do want us all to buy the expansion, but a lot of people are counting their chickens before they hatch. For example: if that F5 rift is easily destroyed, that would leave it a 1v1 ability at best. I fully expect that a competent team will dispatch that rift so fast that it will be difficult to use effectively in group battles.

That alone doesn’t kill the Chrono line, thank goodness, but it does change the balance in relation to other lines. Every line now has some very desireable traits, and if you want to take Chrono, it will clearly force you to make some tough trade-off decisions between damage and/or survivability.

I said most likely I’m still going to be running Duelling/Chaos/Inspiration anyway, so I’m just answering the topic of this thread for anyone trying to shoehorn chrono into a condiruot build.
