help with lvl 80 gear
So PvP doesn’t require you to get normal gear, so you don’t have to worry about that. WvW, on the other hand, does.
For PvE, your main set will be sw/sw + sw/focus (you only need 1 mainhand sword for this). Either zerker or assassin’s gear is fine, they’re both almost identical as far as the ultimate damage output goes. To get more specifics on PvE though, you’ll want to look at the stickied dungeon guide.
Are you intending on doing WvW too?
Yes, by pvp i mean wvw, sorry about that, so, whats the fastest way to get the gear?
Careful! Assassin gear was better before April 2014, but if I am not mistaken, the best stats for PvE and WvW (on power builds) would be berserker.
To get the gear, well, it depends on what you like to do. If you like to play WvW, you can have the gear very easily with badges of honor. You can go even faster if you play on Edge of the Mist. You won’t be able to salvage it tough, so either be sure that you want your runes on this set, or use cheap runes. I think this is the fastest method if you start from 0 gold and don’t want to grind.
If you like dungeons, buy an armor with dungeon tokens.
A relatively cheap way to gear up is to craft your armors and weapons, or buy them on the TP.
You can win armor pieces in pvp through reward tracks.
For your trinkets, buy the ascended amulet in WvW for laurels and badges, as well as your rings. I suggest you get your accessories from the Temple of Balthazar in Orr (I think that’s the one with zerker gear, not sure though), since the only cheap way to have ascended accessories is through guild commendations or WvW seasons.
You can have cheap exotics back pieces from karma in Orr, or by crafting one with any lvl 400 craft you like. Good luck!
The reason why assassin’s is considered better than zerk for mesmers in most isntances is because of reflects. More power does not increase the damage of reflected projectiles, while more precision does increase their chance to critically hit. Another less important reason is because it procs on crit traits/sigils more often.

Oh ok, thank you for this precision. I rarely play PvE on my mesmer.
On the WvW side of things however, you are better off with berserker gear. Your choice.
i’ll go for zerker now Thank you all

Thank you all
As a note, I strongly recommend against buying the gear from WvW vendors. It is un-salvageable, and that means that any upgrades you put into them are gone forever. You can get gear cheaply by running dungeons, or just buy it from the TP.
One dungeon run (15-25 min depending on the group) pretty much gives you enough gold to buy one exotic gear. So it is the fastest way to gear up if you’re not talking about Silver Waste. Additionally the dungeon tokens you build up over multiple runs allow you to buy exotic armors, such as shoulder/head/foot/glove gear, so you’ll have some spare gold to buy exotic accessories, decent runes or materials for ascended armor/weapons.
- If you don’t mind time and want to get ascended rings without spending gold, run Fractal of the Mist to get relics. 10 relics can be exchanged for an ascended ring.
- Cheapest way to get ascended accessories is through guild missions, though you need to run all 4 rewarded missions for about 3 weeks to get both ascended accessories (due to reward only given once per week), so you probably want to buy that if you have enough money and laurel.
- Ascended trinket can get obtain through WvW vendor as explained above.
- You can craft ascended weapons in few weeks if you have enough gold.
- As for ascended armor…don’t worry about it for now because light armor classes takes much longer time to get mats than others lol.
My WvW gear (power build):
- Zerk weapons
- Zerk armor with Traveler runes
- Mix of trinkets for a little bit of added Vitality/Toughness
I prefer to switch out trinkets than to switch out armor, because it’s easier to obtain them without spending a lot of gold, you don’t have to buy multiples of runes, and if it turns out I don’t actually want that Soldier’s ring or whatever later, it’s very easy to recycle it for a different character.

Plus, if you play pvp or Fractals, you end up drowning in ascended rings with every stat combination you can think of.
Want specific stats on your gear?
The various stats on the various pieces and where to get them … all courtesy of the wonderful GW2 wiki.
That is all you need to know … though if you need specifics, please feel free to ask.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.
