how do you beat war
Lots of kiting normally. If I’m playing condi then I bait scepter block and load them up with condi’s while using null field to strip resistance.
Power- well it’s not a fight I chose to go into. Same principle, kite, bait dodge rolls and immunes.

Play full passive defensive + kite and wait out their resistance if using meta chrono (no boon strip). Otherwise build in boon strip+condi and roll over them.
I prefer doing it on full power war. You can see them start off so confident, then get their kitten handed to them immediately after :D
If you’ve got boonstrip, just roll through them with shatters and interrupts. If you don’t have boonstrip, you’ll need to play carefully and wait out their buffs. We could give you more targeted advice if you gave us some examples of the builds you play.
Mace/shield war is built for close range condi burst, luckily mesmer tend to stay at backline now with other classes taking the cap/bunk role. Just wear down the warrior with your shatters if you’re playing condi. If you’re playing power you’re best to focus fire with your teammate or look for an opening to burst in and get out, unfortunately current power mesmer require too much setting and it will be hard to kill him instantly by yourself (adrenal health can recover ALOT of hp).
If you’re playing condi meta and you’re fighting that warrior 1v1, then best advice I can give is forfeit that point and bait out resistance from far before going in for the kill. Better to lose that point then lay dead for 20s (and lose that point), simply because current condi meta mesmer has no way to deal with that resistance duration unless you do bait it out in the beginning.
^ Not quite true. As others have said, you can opt to bring Nullfield and you’ll tear that Warrior a new one in a 1v1 point fight. I have fallen back in love with NF and I often even trait it for that +2s duration and 2s Resistance. One key reason I’m loving NF so much again is because of the new Condie Warrior FoTM.
It was really frustrating dealing with the droves of Warrior bandwagoneers with our only really viable build left being condition heavy. Attempting to out Condie-bomb them was impossible when they have so much Resistance, clears, and HP regeneration that it was just like smacking your head into a brick wall.
Then I tried NF a few times and realized more and more that it was a very potent weapon in the current Condie heavy meta anyway, and was especially lovely against Warriors. Traited and using NF with F5 it’s 14s of boon ripping and condition clearing/resisting goodness!
I’ve been running NF instead of Decoy and it’s been really effective. In the current game you really can’t bring enough condition cleansing.
The OP didn’t say whether this was PvP or WvW, also didn’t clarify what the “meta build” was.
Others have covered PvP but in WvW I would suggest not taking the match up as a new Mesmer till you get more experience. Inspiration power shatter can keep up with condi warrior, you should kite out the endure pain auto proc and utility then mob+mw burst and follow up with a ileap blurred frenzy cry of frustration combo to take that last little bit of health if needed. Same for power warriors.
The frustration happens because they can get stage 3 adrenal healing on your clones and get back 10k health between your bursts. Additionally if they’re any good they know they only have to avoid 2 skills really which are quite easily telegraphed.
If you’re playing condition mesmer then you really shouldn’t have much trouble, as others say bring a boon rip for the condition warrior and against the power one don’t leave clones out for them to proc cleansing ire on. Shattering frequently by quickly generating and shattering the clones, sit in stealth or kite away, rinse repeat till dead or he runs from you.
