how do you kill elementalist as mesmer?
In my experience…
Killing eles is mostly a matter of watching their attunement rotation. You don’t necessarily need to memorize all their skills perfectly, but any time they’re in Earth they’re going to be able to soak a lot of damage, and then when they go into Water they’ll likely heal up to full.
Which means the best time to truly burst an ele is when they can’t jump into Earth and Water, probably because they’ve just come out. Against the tankier builds especially, this often involves a considerable amount of baiting.
Seriously need some advice here they just seem to facetank all my hardest abilities then heal it up in notime… If i go conditions i can kill them if im lucky if they are prepared its impossible. I dont want to reroll i hate ele.
You must have ran into a d/d celestial ele. They are indeed extremely hard to defeat for many and can flee super fast to reset a fight.
As an ele myself, I can hate ppl playing that build sometimes. However, paying attention to when they enter water magic will be key to your success. Specially if you play condi. Water is where they can the bulk of their healing and condi cleanse happens. When you witness them leave water you have a good window to put your pressure.
Be wary when they are in air of the super obvious ride the lightning/updraft combo that will instantly be followed by a switch to fire magic and possibly death if executed well enough and you aren’t able to react fast enough or at all. Fire is where the damage will happen. Dodging ride the lightning will be very important and will increment it’s cool down.
CC, boon strip, and spike. You don’t defeat eles through sustained damage — their sustain is rather high so you need to force them to blow their cantrips.
Remember, your mindwrack and illusionary blade spikes have shorter cooldowns than their defensive skills do.
The trick is to not let them land burning speed or fire grab, do not let them lightning whip you for long, and avoid drake’s breath if you can.
Time your null field or arcane thievery for when they’ve built up their might stacks/protection to minimize both their offense and defense.
Save your decoy or blink to recharge your mantra of distraction so you can pump out CC, CC absolutely baits their longer cd cantrips and once those cantrips are baited out is when you pop em with CC+mindwrack combos.]
Mesmer, warrior, and thief are highly effective against ele because all these three classes have strong spike and CC options to keep the ele under pressure. Eles perform best against ranger/necro/guardian because those classes have inferior spike/pressure options.
time your bursts. Watch for when they are between ‘super boon’ cycles and burst them. When you do burst do not let up throw EVERYTHING at them. They will heal back up to full in no time even if you get them down to 10% and let up.
On the D side their attack are short ranged and some what predictable time your dodge and use range to your advantage .
tease the ele untill he gets to water, when the ele gets to water this is your sign to start bursting.
-watch thier stab before you daze
Force them to heal and switch to water. They will most certainly use a dodge roll in water After that spike. So about a half burst at the opening then whatever you have left after they come out of water.

DD ele is the most dangerous when attuned to fire but also the most vulnerable. Seize the moment when they drake breath or starting to burning speed and interrupt. Follow that by a shatter burst.
Bursting during water is certainly also an option but the ele is usually in defense mode in water and happy to dodge as well. So it is usually hard to land a burst.
If you happen to soak up too much damage and weren’t able to trade back enough. Simply retreat and reset. You really can’t come back in a fight against DD ele.

It is funny to read someone who doesn’t play ele writing such things. Thieves perform well against eles? Wut? They die to aoe and condies before doing something. Warrior sometimes is a problem, but mainly rampage, mesmer is even match i would say (if not pu). But… Performing best against necros – lol eles have hardest time agiainst those, SoS and corrupt boon is pain for ele. Against guardian and ranger i would agree.
As for how to deal with ele – time well your interrupts – it will collapse the attunement rotation and lower pressure from him. Best interrupt his burning speed at beggining (before evade animation). After every interrupt cast damaging skill. Boonstrip as much as you can, especially before burst, make burst after earth (if he use stone heart) or strip protection.
Condi clean doesn’t only happen when an ele switches to water. Some ele’s can and will run with sigils of cleansing, meaning they condi clean every time they switch attunements (mine does), so you can’t really put condi pressure on something like that. But your best bet is when they come out of water into fire. Throw everything you got on it at that moment and don’t let up because once water is off CD, they heal up again.
alright thanks for help.
So i basicly have to put arcane thievery on my bar if there is an ele on the enemy team?
Moa help sometimes but most of the time they just run away before you can kill them.
Conditions is easier but im bored of playing it i want to play power.

S/D thief is a solid ele counter, you must be playing terrible thieves. D/P thief is a pretty even match up.
Necro is cake on an ele, I’ve mained ele/mesmer/ranger since before release early beta, I don’t need your lecturing. Ele has such spammable and short cd condi cleanse, a single corrupt boon isn’t really going to ruin you and neither is signet of spite.
Necromancers have horrendous sustain and very long cast times on their heals( read: easy to interrupt), heals which have fairly long cd’s and heal for relatively little of the necromancer’s health pool. They have garbage for spike and unless you’re facetanking wells you should be able to wear them down if you play aggressively.

That’s a big nope.you are so wrong.Necros dont have sustain? lol Necros have Garbage spike? lol seriously do you even play gw2?

Lol S/D thief is solid ele counter? u must have fought ele that doesnt even know how to play.
Ele is a nightmare for the thief after the patch especially when they trait blinding ashes or even with earth stone heart trait.
Only way to beat ele as thief is to burst them down quick but good ele wont stay still and wait for thief to burst u down. And especially when S/d got nerfed. and even with D/P its hard match up against ele

I see you played on beta, but I guess only then…. S/D thieves are gone after patch (mained s/d thief) and you know what shocking aura is? Especially with lightning rod and tempest defence – thieves kill themselves.
If you have no problem against necros, you fought bad one – after patch minionmancers, signet necros (the 0 sustain?) and terrormancers have all great chcnces with ele. The 0 spike heh, sure but extremally high dps and lockdown.
Also if someone have reaaaaalllyy big problem with winning against an ele with msmer, go condi pu and u can faceroll him to death (but please don’t make pu).
Also somene pointed sigil of cleansing on ele – lol nope (on somewhat experimental signet build maybe).
Mesmer condie builds (PU or otherwise, doesn’t matter) can theoretically kill a non-diamond skin ele…but it’s pretty ineffective against good eles.
Against a bad ele, you wait until they leave water, condie load, and they die.
Against a good ele, you wait until they leave water, condie load, and then they use some of the other condition removals they brought and nothing happens.
Fighting a good ele on a Mesmer condie build will take a very long time, and victory is anything but a given as long as the ele doesn’t mess up their rotations.

As a necro main I have easiest time against elementalists of all other professions. No joke. I would rather fight an elementalist than anything else.
Signets of suffering build tends to really mess them up. I am not saying it is going to be a 100% win for the necro, but as I said in duelling with a SoS build I have best luck against elementalists.
I recently switched to a MM build to try for a bit, and haven’t really fought enough elementalists on it to be able to judge how it compares.
