how is Chronomancer in PVE?
I’ve got both Chrono and Tempest fully unlocked. Chrono is very good in PvE, both open world and fractals/dungeons. Tempest is a lot of fun, but I’m not sure if it’s worth using over base Elementalist, whereas I’m not sure why I would ever choose base Mesmer over Chronomancer.
Chrono is absolutely phenomenal, its playstyle is so much fun and in fractals you just stand there giving alacrity and quickness. In open world you just gotta find a fun build for yourself (i did and it sure works like hell) and you can kill everything though it might take some time
I’m just in love with Chronomancer. I think Chrono will see use in any PvE aspect in the game.
-Dungeons: double Time Warp, Alacrity, reflects, portal,… A mesmer just turns bad dps into great dps and turns great dps into godly dps.
-Open world: overal just a better base mesmer, the Time Marches On trait makes you quite fast. You got decent survivability in the jungle even with squishy stats.
-Raids: not sure yet but i’m quite sure Chrono will have a spot in Raids just because of (double) Time warp, Alacrity,…
Oh and Chrono has amazing breakbar breaking abilities: Shield #5, GS #5, Diversion and even effects like slow and cripple help lowering the break bar over time (Well of Calamity, Action) Gravity Well is Godly as well. I’m probably missing a lot more.
As someone who played Mesmer since release and got kind of bored it over the years, i’m very much entertained with Chronomancer.
As base mesmer i sometimes felt useless in places where portal wasn’t really useful & reflects weren’t necessary. TW and thats it. With Chrono there is a lot more you can do.
I LOVE Chronomancer in PvE. Time Warp and Gravity Well are both really good elites. I personally enjoy all the wells except for the Well of Eternity (mainly due to having to stand in it and wait for the heals/condition removals can work against you and I much prefer a more mobile heal/condition removal). Chronomancer traits are for the most part, really good. I switch from having more alacrity to more shatter-spamming at times. And they have lots of tricks to break the breakbar quite easily.
Splendid.
“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
Looks like I’ll probably focus on chronomancer then. Are condition builds any good with chrono now? I love using condition mesmers
So much fun. Really happy with it. Shield feels great, the “battle system minigame” of illusion management is more interesting than ever, and optimizing alacrity uptime is its own little minigame on top of that.
I am experimenting with a ChronoShatter build, which is rather fun! I get a lot of alacrity from shattering alone. Shield 4 is actually a rather good block. Sometimes I just used it and ran into a group of mobs; it makes me smile every time I see “Block” “Block” “Block” on the screen.
Knowing I can buff the group with alacrity is another bonus. But sometime using Wells in the right place can be a bit tricky.

same here bro. I was a mesmer main for years and just got bored of it. ive been playing warrior so much lately that I auto drifted to rev, yet, chrono is perfect for me. I have trouble comprehending mesmer being good in pve
“what are those purple flames?” “alacrity, it speeds up your cooldowns” “oohhhh I like that!” – my experience as a chrono in pve so far
Make WvW Eventful! – WvW, 4 years in
Yes, I have 5 lv 80 mesmers – Funny Puns
I felt like Chrono was in a fantastic place. I’ve mainly been grinding Hero Points with Chrono (100% unlocked!!) and Rev, and it felt like Chrono just had more to offer.
It seemed that the longer the fight went on the more powerful I would get since I had an insane timer on Alacrity (easily got 20+ seconds of it), and the whole flexibility of being able to shatter Phantasms (since I focus on Phant builds) is very stress relieving. Time Marches On was just icing on the cake.
The wells are very powerful but also offer versatility at the same time. Their potential is also furthered by traits/runes.
Overall, I enjoy that Chrono is a very versatile and complicated class. In the right hands the Elite Class can be a very very powerful asset, but at the same time it can turn out to be a total wash if the player doesn’t know the full potential of the class’s syngery.
Edit: The pink/purple flames from Alacrity made me feel like I went Super Saiyan on my Chrono as well.
I’ve mostly been playing big event swarms, but I’m absolutely loving it.
Running Dueling and Chronomancer, occasionally swapping between Domination, Chaos, and Inspiration depending on my mood for the third slot. Always shatter/alacrity focused.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the support options. Huge quickness uptime from shield, the well, and Time warp (double with Continuum Split). Alacrity is loved by all. Phantasms and clones are surviving way better with the recent change.
It’s a very active profession now, and really rewards skillful play.
I still feel like I’m not really interested in the top line of our chrono traits which revolve around Slows. And I wish the Inspiration line was a bit more helpful. The phantasm/clone survival traits are laughable in PvE with the new buffs but still underperform in WvW.

What build/weapons are you running with?

Nothing fancy really. I took the existing S/X Phantasm build and just slotted in Chrono instead of Illusions/Inspirations. All’s Well that Ends well + Improved Alacrity + iAvenger + a Well skill or two was about all I used. Since iAvengers can also buff themselves it led to more Alacrity casting. I also have Chronophantasma so I shatter often (damage/dazes) for added Alacrity to myself.
I’m still stuck on grinding Elites for a few toons so I am nowhere near practised or optimised where I’d like to be with the class though.
can someone be nice and post that good PVE build ? ( chrono ) cuz i rly don t find 1 good… thank you and regards
This is what im using at the moment.

But i’ve heard going chaos in the second line with staff instead of GS is good for higher clone uptime, but that was before the change to incoming pet damage.

What armor/runes/sigils are you using? I’ve been trying to figure this out with most builds but you didn’t fill that part out. Is this build for zerker or condi gear?
I don’t own any sinister armor but if I have to go condi would rampager be a good placeholder?

That’s a little broad of a question. What are you primarily after? Dungeon/fractals or Open World? Are you looking for high damage output, or would you prefer more utility?
The “issue” with Chrono is that it’s extremely versatile and can fit with virtually all build types. Personally for me, I just slotted all Wells when running through the Jungle. Though I was more focused on trying out the new skills rather than being optimized.

I was using zerker with scholar runes since thats what i had from before hot. not sure if it’ll change. If they fix the chrono rune quickness stacking maybe that or travellers
