iWarden: option to be ground targeted?
Ya I would very much like the ability to target were the phantasm spawns. Would add a little more strategy to the skill.
Why not for all the ranged phantasms? Or even all? Sure its annoying in the beginning but honestly it would be a buff if mastered.
Also: Feedback needs that one too …

Ground targeting iWarden as an idea is probably as old as this forum. Won’t happen though, would not be in line with how phantasms are meant to work.

And how are phantasms meant to work? :P

They are to be cast on a single target. Ground targetging would be AoE targeting.

Could be changed. Warden, on ground target cast, summons him at the place you want, still addicted to the target you marked. Problem solved. Illusions should still be diing after the target they were made for dies. But this shouln’t be a problem to be able to say where they appear.

They’d have to implement a new mechanic. I do not know of a skill like that existing in the game.
But I might be wrong, do turrets prefer the selected target as engineer, or is it random?

Easy way to solve this. Make the warden spawn on your location (or next to you) like other ranged phantasm and iDefender.
I would personally prefer iWarden to walk and follow his target if he gets out of range, but that seems like a further cry than this one.

Unfortunately they don’t – they just attack what they want … ugly.

So … if i cast him on 1200 range it spawns next to me having it’s greatest fight with a allmighty mob called “air”? Noty.

I wouldn’t really like this one :/ because … uhm … I dont like changes o.O Oh kitten actually its a pretty good idea, I can’t see something bad about it

That’s why you don’t summon it 1200 range away? It’s the same logic as having an aoe target for the iWarden, only you are the target. Position yourself to where you want the iWarden to be and summon him.
Sure as hell gives you a more manipulative positioning option for him than now, with minimal changes with no debatable complications (like AoE casting etc).

All phantasms need a target before you can summon one. Having to have both a target and a ground-targeting mechanic seems doubtful. I don’t see iWarden being changed.

iWarden is the one phantasm where this makes sense. Untraited he eats projectiles — traited he reflects them.
I’m having issues with phantasms in general when fighting heavy blind / heavy dodge opponents in WvW. A ground targeted phantasm would be nice as ground targeting is not cancelled by blind nor dodge.
The phantasms requiring a target however does complicate the matter — to the point were it’s not likely to ever be implemented.
EDIT: can anyone guess what a heavy blind/dodge profession would be? ;p
Thief.

A lot of people said: “Oh it won’t work because you need to have a target”.
Yes that’s true but lets say hypothetically they did make it ground targeted. All they would need to do then is make it so that it can’t be cast unless you have an enemy selected.
….
Oh wait this type of mechanic isn’t in the game and is too hard to implement for the kittened interns that work at Anet…
