is Anet done with the reveals?
Nope, we are done for now.
Wait for the next specialization to get a new weapon – would be an educated guess.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
I’m guessing we’re done with big reveals. We had our walkthrough of traits and our Elite specialization reveal as well.
The remaining bit, I would guess, is minor tweaks to existing skills. In previous “feature packs”, they have gone skill-by-skill and made minor adjustments to activation speeds, damage, and recharge. I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a few of these sprinkled throughout.
As a reminder, everything for the Chronomancer is still in development and numbers may change. Entire traits may change as well… but most likely nothing will be to the same scale that the Chrono reveal was.
I would be surprised if we were completely “done”. The fact that they mention various things made ‘core’ (rather large changes) tells me that there is likely more going on. For example, Mark Jacobs offhandedly mentioned in the twitch stream that they were getting rid of Tome skills and changing them to existing types. (A signet and a shout I think). He followed up with a post on the forums about it.
If you look at Mesmers many of our untyped skills don’t easily fit into a variety of the existing categories (unless we generically call them Manipilations). Odds are we’ll see some changes to our Heals and Elites to make them fit into different categories.
For example, we have Time Warp – which is obviously a Glamour. But Polymorph: Moa and Mass Invisibility don’t easily fit into separate categories. Both could be a manipulation, but they should be different. So we might end up with “Mantra of Invisibility” for all we know. That would actually be kinda awesome – brief spurts of AoE invisibility. Reminds me of Kha’Zix in LoL.

On the subject of heals – do you wonder if Ether Feast might become a clone summoning skill, to fit in the illusion category (with mirror images, defender, disenchanter and decoy)?
No idea. They will get categorized though and in order to do so changes will have to be made. Logically an “illusion” skill should summon an illusion, but I don’t think any traits really require it so they might simply categorize Ether Feast as such.
However, that means Mirror needs to become a Glamour (necessitating an area of effect/field) or a Manipulation (necessitating a target since a trait effects the range). Signet and Mantra are already covered.
IIRC, the Livestream actually said that Mirror will become a Manipulation and that it will stack its reflect with the one from the Manipulation trait.
Tanya Larina – Human Thief
Finchy Whyte – Sylvari Ranger
And also the manipulation range increase trait will no longer exist – only the cooldown and bonus reflect.
I think mirror and mass invis are almost certain as manipulations. Ether feast and Moa on the other hand… I can see some minor redesigns to shoehorn them into other categories – most likely both turned into illusion skills, but of course that’s just my opinion/best guess.
Yea I’d forgotten they changed the range increase from Master of Manipulation. I actually prefer the new effect. In that case Ether Feast will have to be an Illusion Skill or a Glamour and the former is the most obvious given the effect.
Mass Invis as a manipulation seems unlikely, as the resulting reflect would be of more limited use while Invis (though I won’t say there haven’t been plenty of times a Longbow ranger had locked on to me as I hit Decoy). I think odds are one will become a Mantra or Signet, and given the effects Mantra seems more likely which would best apply to Mass Invis as an area of effect. Though the dynamics of the skill would probably change so that we end up with less total Invis up time.
I’m happy with the shield, because at least in pvp and WvW, I don’t see any other offhand really surpassing its utility, other than maybe staff, so I’d see sw/shield/GS and GS/staff as main weapons for shatter specs in chronomancy.
The shield has a really good AoE stun that buffs allies, and the block skill will help our survivability, as will the slow and alacrity from the phantasm. By comparison, focus isn’t that useful outside of PvE due to things like time marches on and the iWarden being of limited use. OH sword is in a similar boat due to the shield having a better block, and pistol’s stun is very inferior to tides of time in terms of CC. I’d put shield above torch due to a better phantasm in terms of conditions/buffs, and with things like continnum split to disengage and blind on shatter, I don’t think mesmers will really be as stealth dependent.
Of course staff has compelling advantages over sword/shield in certain matchups provided you can phase retreat up certain spots. And yeah sword 3 is a shadow of its original self, but the auto and 2 are fine enough I suppose.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..

They could easily just call it a clone skill because of its interaction with illusions and call it a day. I’d be a little surprised if they actually added clones to it.

How about make it work in a similar fashion like Warrior’s Healing Surge.
Right now, Healing Surge healing amount is based on the adrenaline and will fill up the adrenaline (if its not full already).
Ether Feast can synergize with Mesmer illusions in similar way, healing scaled on the number of active illusions you have like currently, and if you have less then 3 illusions, summon clone(s) so that you have 3 illusions in addition to the heal effect.
More clone summoning option, less reliance on DE.
