is phantasmal haste still broken?
PH was fixed for all phantasms in the 4/15 patch.
tested, works

I think if you’re using the Torch with it (for whatever reason) you might just not notice because there’s still no factual damage output. :P
you never used the torch in pvp or pve as a cleanser right?

I did, but I have not once noticed a situation in which the mage would have lived long enough to get another bolt off if only pHaste worked on it. Sorry.
So all your illusions die after one attack, mkey btt: they should make a skill leash, like he starts shooting at 1200 but the bolt flies 1500.

PvP? Yes. PvE? Lolno. You can use it to help expedite skips in certain bits of dungeons.
so… is it worth taking PH over a flat 15% damage increase? going only by the numbers its clear that PH is a 20% increase on DPS but that’s only in the long run, using PH over a +15% will lower your burst but make your damage more consistent
According to my math they are both equal, the difference in dmg over time increase is less than 0.1% between both.
Which would mean Haste is always superior, due to added utility from most Phantasms.

Pretty much this.

20% less CD on attacks means +25% damage for phants without attack animation. So about 22-23% for iWarlock, iSwordsman, about 20% for iZerker, about 15% for iDuellist and about 5-10% for iWarden. iMage, iDisenchanter and iDefender also benefit greatly from this … if they would deal any damage at all
It allways depends how to calculate this. It’s just theory. If enemies or phants die after one attack, it was not worth anything. If it’s exactly able to hit a 2nd time where a PH less phant wouldn’t have attacked, it was totally worth it. Depends on situation.

Nope. You trait in the “bullkitten” trait line to get there wich decreases your dmg in general. Noone need condition damage or shatter cdr in pve. WvW and PvP is someting else.
As for PvE I’d rather recommend 6/4/0/4/0 or 5/4/0/5/0 (<2 mantras) instead of 2/4/0/4/4 or 2/4/0/5/3.

Oh yeah, sorry. Excluded the traitline they’re in, ofc.

I’m not sure why you say this. Illusions has a +9% damage trait in the III, and a global phantasm cooldown at the Master minor (which gets your iSwordsman cooldown to ridiculously low). Inspiration is great for many purposes (glamour cooldown and reflecting focus is great), but it’s strictly less damage than Illusions, and the healing power + vitality is useless in PvE as well. It’s of course absolutely fine to take Inspiration for the reflect uptime, but if you can only take one line between Illusions and Inspirations, it’s Illusions which maximizes DPS.
(And I know appeal to authority is not a particularly strong rhetorical argument, but the maximum DPS builds from DnT and rT and so on reflect what I wrote above).

How did you come up with those numbers? They are different then what I have,
Direct DMG/Time increase from PH
- [14.71%] Duelist
- [14.64%] Swordsman
- [11.34%] Warden
- [16.88%] Berserker
- [18.95%] Warlock
PH advantage over PS
- [-0.01%] Duelist
- [-0.01%] Swordsman
- [ 3.01%] Warden
- [-1.91%] Berserker
- [-3.80%] Warlock
Why not this build?
Then you get both
The difference is you’re giving up Blade Training cd reduction, 4.8% crit chance, and 3.3% crit dmg for ~15% dmg increase just for your phantasms. In typical encounter phantasms are responsible for only 30% to 50% of the combined dps. If you see that as a fair trade then yes 2/3/0/5/4 would be a better choice for you (but not the traits and weapons you picked, no point going 5 into inspiration if you have no focus).
edit: talking about pve, not pvp/wvw gamemodes

Oh sorry, didn’t realize this was a PvE discussion. I’m talking sPvP. The point of going 5 into inspiration is 4/5 traits buff phantasms, you get condi cleanse, and some toughness.
