so i was reading around that farming karkas as mesmer is easy, put feedback and mimic and go.

but.

i don’t know if anything changed since that post i read was created: young karkas get owned bu such skills, but veterans are untouchable (and didn’t drop anything) and very annoying to kill.

anyone can help me out?

Young Karkas (and to a degree Veteran Young Karkas) are easy with Reflects and timing them on their multi-spit. Veteran Young Karkas are a bit more problematic and don’t die as fast, where you have to dodge their charge as well as well as their higher HP.
—I usually go with Warden’s Feedback + Focus, Mimic, and Feedback here. Overkill, but then I can aggro a group, and safely beat them all. Run towards the Karka, start casting I.Warden, grab attention of the Karka so it starts its multi-spit, then finish casting I.Warden. Usually that alone is enough to kill a Karka (Having +30% Phantasm Dmg from traits IS overkill, as that +30% also applies to any projectiles the I.Warden reflects).

Veteran Karkas, the BIG things, are another story. Reflection isn’t as useful against them, not to mention there are two types. Egglayers and the Rollers. I’ve never noticed trying to farm these guys as worth the effort, unless in a group. Just skirt around them, avoid them, etc as there are plenty of places where Young Karkas are, but Veteran Karkas are not.
—If you MUST fight them, I find MH-Sword the Egglayers works wonders. It helps kill off most eggs it lays, and you can avoid the stomp with a well timed Blurred Frenzy. For Rollers, ranged is the key. Not for reaction times, but to avoid a stuck Roller spinning in place on you if something goes wrong. I know I’ve groaned by not dodging far enough away from a stuck Roller type Veteran Karka. No matter what, this still can take time solo, especially with its Armor and goes Invulnerable at odd times.

i didn’t know about veteran YOUNG karkas… i’ve never found one so far.

veterans and champion (not young) karkas are a waste of time, no drop for me.

can you tell me where to find those veterans?

Three Veteran Young Karkas are roughly near the Pearl Islet Waypoint and past the bridge. All of them in the Dappled Shores area.
-One is seemingly random in its place. It either takes the spot of a “patrolling” Karka that is often seen trooping back and forth just past the bridge, one of the two stationary Young Karkas to the right of the bridge, or a stationary one past the small hill slightly left of the bridge.
-Another one is always patrolling a behind a small set of rocks due straight off the bridge and slightly left. Its on the other side of the rocks that the Veteran Karka is also sitting in the area.
-Yet another is a random spot in the north side of Dappled Shores. I think in fact there are two randoms in the area, but I rarely make the effort to hunt them down.

Whether they are worth hunting, I’m still trying to determine. I know I hate hunting Veteran Young Karka when wearing a MF set, while regular Young Karkas still die easily despite wearing said MF set. Yet when wearing any of my normal sets, they aren’t so bad.
