lockdown build viable?
I remember some old discussion about this a while back. I think the conclusion was that it would only be remotely viable in sPvP due to having awful, awful damage output, and it’s the only format where interruptions would actually be meaningful- champions and bosses have Defiant, which basically counters the only purpose you’d serve.
However, literally anything can work in general PvE. It’s just going to be severely suboptimal.

I am not saying to use this build.
I made this build STRICTLY because I felt like being the most annoying son-of-a-gun in the world. Could I kill people with it? Yes, in 1v1 I was able to take people out about 80% of the time. Anything more than 1v1 and my survival went down FAST. But like I said I made this just to be annoying and according to my opponents I succeeded.
You said you want it for PvE. I don’t think it will be worth it in PvE. Normal mobs you don’t need to daze/stun to kill and bigger vets and champions get defiant stacks and render you drastically less effective at locking them down. Sorry but I think for PvE this kind of a build is 100% pointless.
Mesmer used to be based on interrupts in GW1… Kind of the lock down class… In GW2 We can kind of do it but we limit ourselves nearly everywhere else… If they moved harmonious mantras down a tree and made mantra of distraction to where it no longer had a 5s CD between casts then I think we could really pull off being a shut down class…
In pvp, it’s an interesting, albeit mainly useless build primarily designed to produce the maximum amount of curses from your fighting target.
No use in pve at all, it’s a really bad idea, unfortunately.
