mantra build pve
The meta builds of 10/30/0/20/10 and 0/30/0/25/15 both take empowering mantras as the grandmaster in dueling. The idea is to use sword/sword and sword/focus, spam phantasms, and use the insane damage from your reflects (feedback) to protect your party and do damage. The empowering mantras bonus does not affect phantasms, but does affect reflect and personal damage. You’ll want 3 mantras + feedback on your bar most of the time.
All other mantra traits are not really worth taking.
so wich mantras to take?, cure condi and stability i guess? and heal one ofc
For most situations, yes. The stun and damage ones can be swapped in situationally.
and if i have 2 rediad mantra of same type (2 stacks of heal one as example) do i get 8% or is it for 1 mantratype?
I am 99% sure it is per type, but someone will clarify, I hope.
k thx a lot for help
so mantra builds r kind of phantasm based builds as well i guess and not a shatter

The boosts are multiplicative, and it is per slot on your bar.
If you have 2 mantras ready, the boost is 1.04*1.04=8.16% boost.
is it even good play mantra build in beserker gear ?

Yes. Taking mantras is mainly done to buff our personal and reflect damage by having them available and only using them when absolutely needed (Mantra of resolve is the only one I typically “use up” during fights); and while doing so, we still try to keep our phantasms up as much as possible to better our damage.
Note: Mantra of Recovery (the heal) is less friendly in PuGs so I would recommend slotting that out for Ether Feast when things are shaky, and this will still give you 8% damage from the Manta of Resolve and Mantra of Concentration.

Sorry I did not specify this earlier. Yes: this is a standard phantasm berserker build. You should be using berserker everything with scholar runes (ruby orbs if you cannot afford scholar). You summon phantasms (preferably swordsmen when you’re fighting one target, preferably wardens when fighting many) as rapidly as you can, and otherwise melee with your autoattack, using dodges, sword 2, sword 4 to keep yourself alive.
Thanks to PyroAtheist for the clarification on how empowered mantras works! I was not aware the bonus here was multiplicative (thought it was additive). Neat!
k thx for help guys!
I would suggest you look here\

Specifically, check out several of the Mantra Builds by “Fay”. The original mantra builds. Traits have moved around since then, but still some great builds using mantras there.
EDIT: bummer looks like the links to Fay’s builds are no longer valid.

If you want to try a different, more powerful, but very glassy mantra build, you can go 30/30/0/0/10. With zerker gear, sigil of force, three or even four mantras ready, and three illusions out, you pretty much hit as hard as a mesmer can possibly hit (although the boosts don’t affect phantasms).

I’m interested in mantra builds as well. I thought I read somewhere about scholar runes not affecting your phantasms, might need clarification on this. If that is the case, as it is a phantasm build as well, wouldn’t another rune set be better than scholars or is it that much more beneficial for your own dps over your phantasms?

The damage breaks down as:
“Scholar runes do 7.5% more damage than ruby orbs when your health is above 90%.
Scholar runes do 2.5% less damage than ruby orbs when your health is below 90%.
If you are above 90% health 25% of the time, you will deal more damage with scholar runes than ruby orbs.” (sorry I do not know who to cite for this )
So it’s a personal 7.5% increase (no phant) when above 90% health, compared to 2.5% increase for everyone. Some things to consider here:
1) Are you stacking perception? If so (and this is usually the best thing), and your phants already have fury and your group is providing fury to you, the extra “damage” from ruby orbs will be 0 because it comes in the form of extra precision which you do not need because your crit chance is already max’ed. This means that scholar is more than 7.5% better in those situations.
2) The 10% increase applies to your reflect damage. Depending on what you’re running, reflect damage can be a significant portion of your total DPS. CM paths, ACp2, Arah, Fractals, etc— everywhere that is reflect heavy— will see that 10% increase from scholar.
Keep in mind that if you’re running mantras, you’re taking 2-3 utilities to get that 8%-12% extra personal and reflect damage. The scholar bonus is like taking another Empowering Mantras for free.
Is it a ~huge~ deal either way? Probably not— zerk with ruby is still wayyy better than anything else you could possibly run. But in my opinion it’s worth the extra 15 gp to go for scholar.

You should note, however, that you have less feedback uptime and your warden does not reflect. You should only use this build, in my opinion, if you are in a place where reflects are absolutely not needed; in which case it will be a DPS gain. Though the number of places where this is the case is much smaller than places where reflects are needed.

You are correct, the 10% damage bonus of Scholar runes does not affect our phantasms. The reason why it is still better is that it will boost your reflection damage, which will let you see even larger feedback numbers. Your auto will also be stronger. Though you should note that crit-capping to 100% is very important and if you are in groups where you do not regularly crit cap, then the 10% damage will not outweigh the precision from ruby orbs. Though with assassins, fury, banner, and food, crit capping is quite easy.

Okay cool thanks. I also read on the Guardian forums that some of them use Rune of the Ranger as the 6th set bonus is bugged to give the extra 5% regardless. I’m not sure if phantasms would count as companions if it were to be fixed but so far on my guardian the extra precision has helped immensely for my 2h builds leaving me to stack bloodlust more comfortably with low fury uptime groups. With mesmer I think this would maybe alleviate the need for precision stacks and instead replace it for bloodlust. Don’t think I’ve read too much of that rune set used for mesmers though.
