Ok so I’ve just come back after a long break and i heard that mantras cooled down in the background while charged but this was considered a bug and was patched. Did this make mantras viable or OP?
And was there any other mantra nerfs i missed after the june patch?

It made them rather viable than op. Right now they are crippled again due the full cd for even 1 stack.

That made mantra very good and smooth to use. However, the combination of mantra of distraction and the confounding suggestion was too strong.
Harmonious mantra which increase your damage after you use a mantra was also nerfed.

Not only that, it basically made MoRecovery the best heal available, which could be spammed constantly.

ok thanks for the info guys. how bad was the harmonious mantra nerf because it would be a really good if it was a 5% buff per stack instead of 3%.

The HM nerf took an already underperforming trait and turned it into pure and unadulterated garbage.

It’s still nice for that extra charge… sometimes… (since that extra charge actually increases your overall Mantra cooldown now without background recharge).

Mantra of pain focused Mesmer builds still do well, but mantra of distraction can’t really be abused anymore, which I think is a good thing personally.

Abused? I still swap the mantras with CD when they got 1 charge left and swap them back to have the “hidden CD” on them.

Mantras are just broken at the moment. The CD for 1 charge = 2 charges = 3 charges thing is ruining the whole skillset.

I hope that some day they add background recharge to HM trait…

No, they just have to adjust the CD per mantra, thats all. Not 20 sec cd for the last mantra, but stacking 7 sec cd PER mantra.

The idea of a trait is to make something stronger, not to make something viable. That was already the problem with the engineer grenades
