need to balance mesmer v thief only real way to beat them is using a one handed sword since all our attacks rely on having a target selected. the good thing is that is the illusions are out they can follow the thief but if they are not out ur dead.

Hi mate, just a warning, the admins/moderatorst delete pure qq posts. If you want help for tactics vs thiefs eather use one of the existing Thief vs mesmers threads or make a new one by al means. But if you make a thread make it as a proper " lets discuss tactics for how to beat thiefs …blabla" Put a little more effort into it and try create a platform for discuss tactics etc, mabye help new players.

Atm it feels like you just had a thought and mabye a bit of frustration but this thread dont help anyone exept you who hopefully get some frustration away.

If they get the jump on you, you are dead true. (Alteast bursty backstab thiefs and a few other builds)

But if you jump on them You win in almost all situations with whatever build, unless they run away.

If you go 1v1 and you see them coming and your good enough, you will win. That is ofc if they don’t cloak and run away.

I do agree with only really one way to kill them though, GS seems to be the best tool for the job, since cripple messes them up pretty badly and izerker is our only real reliable cripple.

So odds are actually more in our favour from the get go, though they will kill you if they Burst you.

Not true, greatsword is very effective, as is off-hand pistol.

The knock back on GS and the stun on pistol really give you plenty of time to deal the hurt. If you shatter appropriately you’ll win it. Vs pistol/dagger thieves, reflection with distortion is an epic trait

*Running full knights armour/trinkets, runes of the warrior *6, superior sigil of hydromancy on sword/pistol and force on GS.

:) Personaly I favour staff and swords for thiefs. Linking 2 vids who show regular tactics to take down thiefs.

I should have been more specific. I meant only one way to get them = CC

and implied GS as being the best for the reliable AoE Cripple.

Not posing them together as GS being the only way to kill them.

simple. u have 3 hide skill. if he hide, wait couple seconds and hide to, GS good choise but sword/focus better imo. u use focus 5, then sword 3, again 3. then sword 2. then focus 4. his ofcourse go in hide, u go to. and soldier set and emerald jewel good choise vs burst thiefs
