On the bright side, the new pistol is absolutely gorgeous and well-suited for mesmer. It’s elegant and sleek, just like the mesmer class. Despite not regularly using pistol, I intend to pick one of these up before the event ends.

I feel you, OP – sad as this is, the whole update has been ruined for me. In all fairness, we weren’t promised a rapier, but to see another set of overproduced skins is disheartening to say the least.

So what Sword options do we have? The closest one I’ve found is a ceremonial sabre, which kind of gives the class a “Blue Mage” vibe. Whisperblade would be a good contender if the base model wasn’t so boring.

You can say the same about legendaries, but people still craft/buy it.
People dont care about awful system if they are wealthy, If anet does not have a better idea to gain money from the rapier it lost a good chance.

rapier is an historical weapon with lot of lore.

A twilight is a shiny stuff like many exotic out there.
Being too greedy hurts on the long run.

Just think if the released long hairs only via TP and short hairs for free instead….wouldn t you be mad?

Not sure about conversion but the lowest sells/highest buys are around 50/30 Gold right now for the aether weapons.
Anets been pretty fair with the recent rng boxes since they have given other ways of in game acquiring that are probobably cheaper. Like converting $60 to gold would do you better than the RNG boxes.

Rapier does sound cool but I actually don’t want it yet. The sword is a slashing weapon for the mesmer. Wouldn’t look right with a main hand rapier.

Its not about the lore or particle effect, its about people that pay for the skins they like.
Id rather prefer buy two of them from the tp, others will prefer to gamble or convert gems and if they do it for legendaries they wont have problems to do it for a less expensive skin.

Mind spike would fit well with rapier.

As absolutely great as that rapier skin is… the sword animations would look fairly clunky for a rapier. Even the thrust sword animations look a bit too “heavy” for a rapier. But yes… the skin is just great… and that clunky aetherized sword skin is rather “blah”.

Its also a good chance to fix the autoattack!

The animations, if weird, wouldn’t be unique to mesmers. Look at warrior sword chain and pistol whip. Pretty much every skill animation in the game is “generic”.

Anyone have any idea when those swords with the purple writing stuff in them (as seen in the screens for the latest update) will be released? i hope we see a Greatsword version that isnt a total mess of a design like 99% of oversized rubbish greatsword skins the game has.

Are you referring to Lord Taeres’s Shadow? If so, it drops from the Champ Spider in Queensdale.
