I play Thief as my main and love it, but i can’t play only one class so i was looking through what was on offer.
I have never ever played a “caster” mage archetype before, but the melee mages with big kitten swords in GW2 made me drool so i rolled a Mezmer a week ago.

Anyway i got her to 80 tonight and decided to go wvw for the first time on my Mez… my Thief lives there
My damage was nice but my survivability was terrible, one hit from most people was taking 30-50% of my health. Even the Ranger AoE was taking 1/3 of my health pool before i could dodge away.

Getting away from a 1vs1 or 1vs2 encounter was ok but any encounter with AoE was downing me in seconds.
This is my build with traits http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fgQQNAscRlwzKqHVTmGa9ICqHYn29dkU0apWJF82FC;T0Ag0CnoqxUjoGbNuak1ssYYxBjHGzPA
The armor and runes used is different to the link.
Im in full lvl78 Berserker exotics with power/prec/crit runes.
i have the rampager amulet but the rest of my trinkets are lvl70 blues
My health pool in WvW is 18.7k

Any advice?
Should i go for toughness or vitality as the main stat when i choose the rest of my jewelry, or would it be a waste of time because i have gone DPS with everything else?

Any and all help realy appreciated.
With my Thief i didn’t need advice, having always played melee i just seemed to know what i wanted and how to achieve it, but with the Mezmer im at a loss at which way to go next.

Link works if you copy/paste it. Looks shatter heavy, not sure how well that works in big WvW settings because illusions that get killed before they hit their targets aren’t much use. WvW dictates my trait setup and I tend to roll more support in that situation: feedback the utility + Warden’s feedback are handy with tons of projectiles flying around. Make use of distortion (with self-shattering you should be able to do this all the time, not something I have experience with), and obviously getting your clones to soak up the damage.

If you are going with glass cannon then I assume a lot of the time you’re hanging back with GS, in which case projectiles are what you are most worried about. You should be able to see those coming, you have lots of tools to reflect them, and for AoE ones all I can say is that you should be dodging faster, and really just moving around all the time minimizes how much you get targeted by AoE.

Thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it.
Im gonna ask something unrelated now lol if anyone can answer.

I was looking at builds in google and came upon a site that recomends */focus as second weapon set. 4 for the obvious speed buff, but the guy also said that the focus is excelent for pulling defenders off walls…. I have never used a focus so i dont know what the skills do, so is it true?

EDIT: Typo

Temporal Curtain has a secondary effect called Into the Void that shoves all opponents nearby in the direction of the center of the effect. That’s the effect he’s talking about.

But the people on the walls have to be stupid and on the top of wall itself for this to happen, not slightly behind it at a lower elevation. This is because the wall itself will stop them from flying over. Works a lot better with cliffs.
