hi all, I’ve just started a new char: my first Mesmer.

I’m a bit confused by all the various wvw options. I’d be very grateful if someone could give me a summary of what builds are the main viable ones in wvw. Many thanks

To simplisticly sum it up in terms of group sizes:
1-2 players: Build for PU/high dps (shatter work too but PU is a stronger roamer)
3-20 people: Build for shatter/medium-high dps with some survival thrown in
20+ people: Build for whatever the hell you want as long as you got ~3000 armour.

You could build for phantasm if you want but tbh, the playstyle bore me to death even more than cheezy condition damage PU builds.

10+ pu power, shatter
25+ u dont need a build as u cant deal real dmg anyways as u got no non illusion option, all u do as a mesmer is veil,tw,portal, feedback and nullfield.

That’s a good summary for sure!
I really enjoy a power-PU build in 3-20+ as well. The condition removal, AoE blast, and escape/defense that the build gives you is really solid. PU builds seem to emphasize personal damage/survival over pure shatter skills. That works well in scenarios where your illusions won’t survive long enough to reach your foe.

A solid iZerker→Prestige→iLeap→blurred frenzy→mind wrack is awesome AoE. Perfect combo chain for group fighting.

trinkets are still a little random, but swapped from condi to power and dont have all ascended yet

Hidden Cat power pu doing wery well in most parts of wvwvw.. Its a effective, fun and poppular roaming build.

For roaming, I prefer shatter builds, because its just the most fun for me. I’m running a high survivabilith variant, that it played right, is pretty much invincible. Ofcourse you can do that with other builds aswell, just depends on your style.
