problem with the mesmer boons (swiftness).
Is pretty well known, and i think what happening is that universally curtain wont apply swiftness if you already have it, since that would allow for ridiculous amount of stacking swiftness if you ran over it a few times. Would love to get this fixed somehow but i dont see a very easy way this could be fixed and still prevent curtain swiftness stacking to the extreme

They could just use the old functionality of the guardian staff symbol and make it refresh swiftness to it’s maximum duration. That means if temporal curtain applies 12 seconds and you have 3 seconds on swiftness on you, you will go back to 12 seconds instead of just having wasted the skill.
Or make the curtain apply a dummy buff lasting 5-12s, and check for that instead of the swiftness boon. Would prevent a group of mesmers from supporting each other, but that is offset by the ability to buff an infinite number of allies.
what would be so bad by just letting swiftness stack?

that you with one skill could easily get like 48 or 60 sec of swiftness with one skill (move back and forth 4-5 times over the curtain), and that is on a skill that even in addition to that apply cripple to enemies that try to run over it, and function as an amazing pull if timed right

Because reasons… Guardian’s Symbol of Swiftness was already changed to allow both stacking of the symbols and stacking of swiftness. The problem is that Temporal Curtain is a line who’s affect is instant when touched where the Guardian’s Symbol of Swiftness is a mark which pulses over time. The line is necessary for the directional geometry used with Into the Void and lines don’t work well for pulsing affects as they are quickly crossed over. Basically they would need to change a lot more than just how the boon is given and whether it stacks or not.

Because letting it proc only once per cast is just too good of a solution that any human could ever come up with it.
It also doesn’t have a target limit like symbols.
I’d just like a 25% movement passive. That would make me happy.
Simple fix (maybe not as far as coding is concerned): Temporal Curtain can only grant Swiftness once to each affected player.

We’re getting a Minor Trait for that with Chronomancer. Waiting sucks.
Curtain has the same issue as veil has. If you already have mesmer stealth you cannot get any more from it.
I think it’s not yet possible (or they just didnt find a way yet) to let skills only not stack with their own buffs but with others. I’m not sure if it would be possible to have an ICD on those boons for the duration of these boons on mentioned skills.
But yea – it’s annoying. Since release … ye … T_T

Nonsense, this mechanic does exist! It’s called “dummy buffs” for those unable to implement a standalone per-target ICD.
We keep making these threads, but nothing is ever done…it’s been three years. I just don’t understand.
