It relies alot on countering the enemy. also amulet would be rabidss in pvp

You got it backwards, condition/staff builds are going to be the easiest to play. They are passively much more forgiving. This is true for every class.
Mesmer is kind of in a bad spot in the meta right now, this thread does a great job of explaining what the meta is: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/A-guide-to-spvp-reworked/
Basically the only thing mesmer really does well comparatively to other classes is as a dps role in teamfights with on demand interupts, and of course portal/timewarp monkeys which may give them special functions in maps like khylo.
I think most people after the patch went shatter, some may of stayed with a lockdown/power block spec, and I’m not sure the state of phantasm builds after they just nerfed AI dmg across the board. Condition specs are more for roaming/decapping… but there is just so many better choices than mesmer to fill that role.
The pre-patch guides should be fine btw, not much changed for mesmer mechanic wise besides 1 GM trait that got gutted a couple days after the patch… and if you are interested in that I have a thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/WW-Powerblock-mesmers, Dont take it as a guide, but build from that and make it your own because I’m not even sure I’m doing it efficently. But with that type of build you really need to know every class in the game to play it 100%.
The easiest spec for power is going to be phants, iir you just grab all the phantasm traits so….
2/3/0/5/4? full zerk
that grabs every single trait that effects phantasm DPS, obviously use enchanter and ether feast, than fill in the rest with what you feel you need. See how you like traited focus, try out new things and just change it up every 1-3 matches. And most importantly remember your role, don’t try to decap or yolo 1v1 people, roll with the team and fight on points.
