Was just thinking about these two weapons, and was playing around with mirror images too. Probably behind the curve but like the way mirror images creates clones based on what is in your main hand, great for staff, poor for scepter. One nice quirk with scepter is that mirror images creates clones near the mesmer, scepter chain skill 1 puts the clones beside the target, so the clones can be shuffled about a bit, good for distracting foes and giving them the run around in PvE. Could this combo of weapons be like a set that pumps out clones while making for maximum distraction, to go with the conditions and confusion? Something like this:
Scepter 2 and Sword 4 changed slightly, so when the mesmer blocks with these skills, all clones do the same animation i.e. raise their weapon in front of them. If a clone is attacked the attack is blocked, and the attacker is blinded (scepter clone) or dazed (sword clone). If the mesmer is attacked the skills work as they do now, block an attack and create a clone, but with both skills changing to a swap type skill, that can randomly swap the mesmer with an active clone.
Blink would be a great skill to support this type of play, but when a mesmer blinks they are appear in a flutter of butterflies, and not just like a clone apearing. Probably can use it to move behind an attacker so only they can spot the tell if they quickly flick around the camera.
Is a deceptive type clone build ever going to fool players though? Would love to be able to be able to change position more readily with clones but that might be too powerful, like when MH sword used to have two swap skills.
