sceptre questions
Kinda, not really.
Scepter is very good in the group of condition / hybrid builds out there right now using Debilitating Dissipation (chaos V) as it provides pretty good condi pressure with it’s auto attack and it’s block is amazing. The ‘not really’ portion comes in because atm condition damage just doesn’t compete with power damage in PvE, it is something they’re looking at balancing but atm it’s just not worth it, but scepter remains quite good in WvW / PvP
Abandon pve and get into wvw. It’s an amazing weapon. Never played without it.
What Ross said, or just really let’s be serious, you can run whatever you want in PvE pretty much (certain exceptions do apply) and still faceroll everything. It may not be optimal or the quickest sometimes, but you can still do it.
Even as a scepter lover myself I use a sword in PvE. The main problem is that much of the damage from the scepter comes from the block, and it’s difficult to time and make sure it gets used unless you are fighting 1 on 1.
blah i guess it was too much to hope. i wish rather than giving us more weapons (except mian hand pistol) we got more skills for the weapons we have and we could chose
The scepter is the mesmer’s best ranged DPS option since it allows you to consistently retain two strong phantasms for more total damage than the other two ranged options, which don’t get as much total damage and/or aren’t as consistent. Greatsword damage is simply too low since the iZerker is a really weak phantasm, and while the iWarlock is really strong it takes forever to get three up on the staff. By comparison you can go Sc/Sw and Sc/F and just summon-and-swap to get and maintain two phantasms easily.
