As you all probably remember, the portal cooldown used to be 60, but they changed it to 90. Its a nerf, ok, i can live with that. But what annoys me is Anet’s reaaoning behind the change, it was something like:
“Portal is overpowered in zergs, so it has to be nerfed”
What they may or may not know, there are still jp-, pvp- and wvwers that use it solo, and they suffer from it. Which is unjustified if you ask me.
In my oppinion it should be a 60s cooldown, but when more people use it, the cooldown goes up. Something like: (brace yourselves, I’m about to use bullet points!)

I think the range combined with lower CD would be a bit overkill, though. Maybe the range could be lowered, but only count horizontal so its still usable in jumping puzzles.
Thoughts?
Personally i would rather have:
A Player only version
30 second cool down
1500 Range
Once activated it stays for 15seconds (Activated as in 2nd portal dropped)
It would have the same cooldown as blink, and its actually better than blink due to not needing line of sight, having a longer range and multiple uses etc.
An option to make portal useable only by you would be cool.
Usually when i portal stomp in a big fight, people will randomly go through it and get confused xD really funy :P

Or if you get massacred after you used blink, then you probably didnt use blink properly :P.

- blink out of his line of sight
- blink to get the junp on him (or her… It)
- dodge the 1200 range stun, or something :P
Besides, what is he going to do to you when youre stunned 1200 units away :o?
1) what if in open combat, no LoS possible?
2) What if you are running from combat, not really a “jump on them” is it?
3) what if they have more then 1?
Get close enough to get back at you, Could be long enough to get back into a fight
1): youre probably dead, unless the person chasing you is silly and chases a clone instead of you.
2): you can still blink in another direction (other than moving forward in a straight line) to surprise them. Combined with stealths, phase retreats temporal curtains and stuff.
3): i cant actually think of a profession that has more than 2 1200range stuns. Except maybe signet of domination and traited pistol? I think the signet is 900 actually.
Luckily blink isnt your only stunbreaker :P.

It could be increased to 45 seconds but i think part of the problem with Portal is thakittens nerfed so much as its can be used by everyone. a 45second cool down version just for the Mesmer wouldnt be so bad imo

So you use Portal .1 and then Portal .2, the portal lasts for 15seconds, once its closed down then the cool down starts. Or they could add like a 5second debuff stopping you from spamming them, so at best you would have access to them 3 times.
Don’t touch blink. It’s fine they way it is and a range increase would most likely come along with a cd increase as well, which would…not be good.

This could work, except i dont agree on th debuff part. Maybe a range of 900 would be fun, and inatead of a 5 second debuff, make it have uses like the real portal. Maybe 2 uses (so you can go back and forth), or 4 uses with temporal enchanter! Maybe then temporal enhanter would finally be worth it :o
Or a range of 600 to balance it out (compared to blink).
Note: the personal portal wouldnt replace the real portal. Wed have a 5th glamour skill

I think the fact its personal i think it should have further distance then Blink, having it capped at 3 uses as well would lead to the benefit of it being a longer distance then Blink as well.
With the debuff, it would stop you using them going from portal to portal in and out spamming attacks before jumping again

If the debuff was 2 seconds id like it… But i think you already have to wait 2 seconds before using it again :o.
If t had a longer range than blink no one would use blink anymore, if they had to choose.
The last thing need is another utility thats overused and makes others redundant.
Also, even if its capped at 2 or 4 uses, its still more than blink. Blink is a single use before it goes on cooldown :o.
A 5second debuff really is too long, i want to portal stomp :D
Well, after all you have to already been at a place to be able to use portal, so it still would be different from blink.
Thats true. You can also portal back even without line of sight, which blink cant.
I dont agree, why would they stop using Blink? Blink and this personal portal would be used in different situations most of the time. They wouldnt overlap
