switch class for POF
I kind of like the spec in pvp, however I don’t feel like using any of the utilities :/
I’m just curious about what to gear, which I made a post about:P
If I absolutely hated the spec, I would probably still play mesmer but chrono instead
Soulbeast is great as are the new pets and Ranger was already my main alt so probably this one, but it seems to be in a weird posistion where it might not be that great for most things but certain skills that make it fun look like they will be nerfed.
Firebrand seems pretty good and I’ve meant to make a Guard for more then messing about for awhile now and with Spirit Weapons and all the quickness you can be a better Mesmer then a Mesmer.
Going to go try out Holosmith now.

i will play mes and chronno still , but i do want to try some new stuff in pof and mirage is being such a let down while they gave war what mesmers asked for years .
even if its power level is low but with some better gameplay more meaningful things to try out . i wont mind . right now , with its current form tho , nope
No matter what happens, this is basically how PoF will workout for me:
- play my Mesmer main through the story and unlock the elite spec and roam around the new maps checking out most stuff. Depending on how enjoyable Mirage is I’ll either be doing that as Mirage or switch back to chrono or even core power mesmer
- wait for new raid builds to come out and see if mesmer has a spot
- play through the story and unlock the elite spec on one of the other raid classes I am playing (warrior, guardian or revenant). Most likely guardian since the new warrior elite seems way more pvp oriented
- play through PoF with necromancer since Scourge seemed dope and necro in open world is faceroll easy
- finish all the other classes (very likely Holosmith first since it looks nice, might go with weaver too since supposedly the rotation is very fluent)
This is ofcourse if I buy PoF, there is a lot I like in the expansion but Mirage has left a very bad taste in my mouth.
I planned this out a while back as a fail safe, and chose Power Reaper as my new main. Ah, well.

but i think you dont need play through pof for elite if you have enough hero points ?
or you jsut want to try story out .
thats nice , but i need to see the quality of story telling in POF first so i can decide if its worthy to play story multi times

from what i have tested i can fairly say mirage is worst of all elite by miles .
anet : we designed mirage first lol
as long as pof has same quality as other elite spec im fine buying it .
funny how they managed to make mirage this bad
I’m still going to play mesmer. Whether that ends up being chrono or mirage by release, we’ll have to wait and see.
As for alts I’m going to make a Firebrand because I dunno – for some weird reason I like it. The visual effects are really cool.

Doesn’t matter to me. My main is my main and I finish everything on her sooner or later.
Elite specs I’m not sure, maybe they will be story unlocked maybe not. If it’s only hero points then I’m good on 1/2 my characters already.
The HoT story was also nothing to write home about, yet I still finished it on 23 characters.
To me it’s more a matter of which classes I play first after mesmer.
Been trying to decide between Holomancer, Weaver or just sticking with Chronomancer and getting way less value out of the expansion.
But yeah.
I, too, have stuck around Mesmer through some really bad times in terms of balance or purpose, or bugged skills, or bugged traits, or being nerfed every patch for the first two years straight. But I just don’t see anything about Mirage I like at all. The few things it does well should have been part of core Mesmer since launch.
Also, is there even any visual indication between which Mirage Mirrors are yours or your opponents in PvP? When I was fighting with other mirages I was just kinda guessing which ones I should be walking into.
At the end of the day I’ll probably stick with Chronomancer, do the PoF story, and then not log in again until the third expansion and hope to finally get a power spec that makes sense.
Holomancer is nice but only in the ‘look at all these ridiculous abilities’ I can spam. The core Engineer class never really appealed to me so ultimatly Holomancer doesn’t. Shame because I really like the skill effects.
Holosmith for sure. It’s such a pretty spec and care was taken into creating it. It feels different enough from the kit spamming engie to be interesting.
Also, I can just swap my Bolt and Flameseeker from the Mesmer over to the Holosmith and only have to pull out the concentration sigil.
