why?!

what was it?
It was a fun little pointless trick, using scepter auto attack you could activate a tonic while the “Ether Clone” bolt was flying to the target, when it landed it would create a clone in the form you were using.
it would then follow the target and spam costume skills!
it wouldn’t deal any damage, and you couldn’t get costume brawl achievements from fighting them so it was’nt exploitable in any way.
but you could indeed fight them! it was fun!

why was this fun little gem removed?
people can still exploit to make gold in many ways,
and a harmless fun thing was patched away!

i hate it when fun is unjustifiably patched away in MMOs.

Even better, if someone reflects your Ether Clone, there is no limit to the number of clones (unless that person is a mesmer, too). I once planted an entire forest at the entrance of Obsidian Sanctum.

using a Hylek Potion would cause your clones to deal 1,500 damage like 4 times in a row along with poison with a 5ish second cooldown

so…… good? kinda

unfortunate bugfix but clearly unintentional

Phantasms still pick up stats from golem. Being full zerker and having 3 Phantasms out is like having a second golem.

Never fear. It still works if you use mirror blade.
