Posted this on the bug forum as well, but i figured a lot of people should be aware of this when creating their spec as it leads to a lot of wasted points.

1) phantasmal fury, vengeful images and phantasmal healing

  • These do not work PROPERLY at all if spec-ed into more than 1, they seem to override or cancel each other. I have not done enough testing, but with all 3, phantasms seem to start with fury, never get retaliation and after the first 10 seconds of fury expire, they gain regen and never receive fury anymore.
  • These traits are so horribly buggy that picking up more than 1 is a complete waste. The other issue is that regen comes standard, so if this were a feature where you can only have 1 boon or something, there’s no way to even disable it. As it stands, this is my BIGGEST problem with mesmers right now.

2) Mesmer portal: supposed to last 20 seconds once the exit is placed, only lasts for about 11 seconds.

3) Into the void: supposed to pull enemies into your temporal curtain, it just throws enemies all over the place most of the time.

4) Phantasmal Haste: is this even working? I think it only affects warden.

5) Warden’s feedback: i’ve never seen my warden reflect a single attack

6) Masterful reflection: does not work with blurred frenzy

3) Into the Void does pull them in the direction of the wall. Depending on what side of the curtain they are, they either get pulled further from you, or closer to you.

5) This is working. Find a mob that only uses ranged attacks (like the undead grubs or hyleks or the Asura Pirates in Bloodtide Coast) and cast the warden on them. It will reflect all their attacks back as long as they only attack it with ranged attacks (not AoEs) and don’t move away. It has trivialized some dungeon mobs for me (like archers) since they just sit there killing themselves as long as they don’t move.

Hmm, i’ve only tested warden’s feedback in pvp and didn’t see any change, from what you describe i guess it would never work in pvp. I noticed into the void does that, the tooltip implies they would get pulled into the line rather than into the direction of it.

4) It does affect other phantasms, to varying degrees, but most of the time there’s so little benefit the only reason to take the trait is if you were using Phantasmal Warden.

5) I can confirm this works across all game modes. In sPvP a well built team will have enough varying types of damage that the Warden can’t just sit there reflecting projectiles for long. In WvW and PvE correct Warden placement with the reflecting trait is great in specific cases.

6) It’s really unclear when the description states that ‘distortion’ grants reflection because there is both a skill and an effect called distortion, so it may just be the trait works as intended and only triggers on use of the F4 distortion skill.

Into the Void may work slightly differently than the tooltip sounds, but it does work very consistently in terms of where it places the enemy.

Pretty sure it works, although it’s most blatantly obvious on the iWarden because that phantasm has the longest attack animation, which means that the “downtime” shrinkage from the trait is very noticeable.

It definitely works.

6) Masterful reflection: does not work with blurred frenzy

Pretty sure this is working as intended, although the tooltip is misleading. I think the trait is “supposed to” refer to the Skill Called Distortion (e.g. only F4), not the Distortion Effect (e.g. also includes Blurred Frenzy and the trait for Signets).

Edit: At least, that is the rationalization of players after they discover that the trait sucks kitten because it doesn’t make Blurred Frenzy cooler than it already is.

So yeah it would be nice if they changed this …

Clones spawned from my the greatsword’s Mirror Blade do 0 damage and the sword’s Illusionary Leap do something close to 1 and 2 damage with each hit. Is this supposed to happen?

Yessir. Clones currently do next to no direct damage, no matter where they come from. That said, they do apply any conditions they’re supposed to, such as vulnerability for 1h-sword clones.

The portal is supposed to last 12 seconds after the exit is placed. It’s been like that for a while. Tooltip need to be changed

Not really a trait problem but since i cant seem to start a new topic i’ll post this here.

There is bug with the skill veil.
The description says its a light field but when using a finisher on it it gives you ethereal field benefits.

So either change to tooltip or change to skill to reflect what the tooltip says.
In my humble opinion it should be the latter since we have more then enough ethereal fields as it is.
