Guild Wars 2

HI guys, so after 1,5 years of GW2 i started to think about working toward a legendary weapon, i did almost only tpvp in the beginning of the game so i never got rich even if i surpassed the 1000 hours by a lot…
Considering that legendaries will be mostly a skin than a weapon with good statistics after 15 April, and usable in pvp too, i have to choose the kind of weapon i’ll use the most.
I use 3 classes:
-Mesmer: my favorite class, i use my mesmer for solo roaming, pvp, and a little zerg www, but i prefer elementalist by a lot when it comes to big groups in wvw. I don’t use mesmer in PvE, i simply don’t like it.
Builds i use: Pu with staff-sw/t . Zerker shatter with GS/sw-p . Phantasm with sw/p-sc/sw

-Elementalist: my first class, i still love my elementalist even if Anet is doin his best to make me hate him. I use him for group wvw with my guild and for fractals.
Builds i use: basically only bunker staff, could go back to DD after the feature patch.

-Warrior: this class is nice, but after getting good with ele and mesmer it is simply too simple to use, i like f1-f4 skills and difficult rotations, and warrior does not allow me to do that, i actually use warrior only for dungeons fast runs and as a bunker in pvp if my team need it.
Build: GS pve zerker, hambow even if i hate it, sw-sw/bow condition.

This are the classes i use, so right now i have to choose what legendary i want, and start working for it, right now i like 2 options:

The Bifrost staff: this could be the best option, i never unequip staff on my ele and in wvw i can’t go without it with my mesmer too. Too bad i’m not in love with the skin itself, and i actually have this staff and i think is the best skin for a staff on my mesmer.
Dunno if i’ll use it in pvp, too defensive on the mesmer for fast fights.

Bolt sword: even if this is the most expensive legendary of all, and the skin is not exactly what i imagine a mesmer sword should look like, i still love this weapon, right now this is my favorite option, but i’m afraid i could find myself not using it.
In PvE with my war i usually go with a GS, i could use a sword as back up set, but is a condition weapon on warriors. In wvw i’d probably use a 1h sword on warrior to pump the mobility, but i actually never use him in wvw.
On mesmer i never used a build without a 1h sword, but i was theorycraftin builds after the feature patch and i think scepter could be more useful in condition shatter builds…

What do you guys suggest me? Goin for the skin i’ll probably use the most or for the one i like the most?

This is a very opinion based question and you should always choose what legendary that you think suits your play style and character most.

The first legendary I made was quip since I play engi and mesmer most out of my characters and this could be used on both, plus I love the 2 casts that pistol has for mesmer.

Next I would probably make bitfrost since that’s a weapon that suits my play style most and I love playing defensively on my mesmer whilst keeping constant pressure. Greatswords are way too common these days it seems like half the warriors/guardians you see either have twilight or sunrise.

There’s no reason as to why you shouldn’t be able to use 1H Sword, even if you plan on using Scepter in the future for trying out a (Torment) shatter build. I run Sword+Torch or Focus and Scepter+Pistol in example, works well for me.

Anyways, when it comes to a Legendary to select, think about which ones you find more visually pleasing before anything else. They are fancy skins in the end, as you are likely to rarely switch the stats on them.

Personally I really like Sunrise, I love how it looks when bouncing around, as we dodge all over the place, etc.—I think the Greatswords looks amazing on Mesmer overall, as we are such an active class that moves around a lot, and that got somewhat exaggerated visual animations in our GS skills. That being said however, it may be worth going for one you will use more, over the one you enjoy the looks of the most. In my case, I’ve stopped using my Sunrise for the time being, even though I thoroughly enjoy the look of it on my Mesmer. Try to find a balance. Don’t get one just to get one, in my opinion, that’s just being silly. I happen to like all the legendaries, but I know not everyone likes Bifrost, not everyone likes Quip, and so on forth. Get one you like, but that you also think you’ll be using. Over time, you can make several, with enough dedication, time and ability to earn Gold to buy- and/or farm materials. It’s not as hard as some players may think. It just takes 3-4 months. For some of them, less.

If you’re a PvP-centered player like myself, I can only recommend that you focus your playtime in WvW, since you can “farm” there while getting the PvP you’re after at the same time. I also enjoy the better stats management you get in that mode, over sPvP.
