i just got the game a couple days ago, and finally got a chance to play. i decided to get a staff and put condition runes in my gear and the 25 stack sigil in my weapon for condition.

even though i have all this invested into condition, my dot damage is still so low. whenever i swap to my dual swords stuff dies twice as fast even though i have no power?

would like help?

Condition damage is not as strong as power and long range weapons are weaker than melee ones. if you really wan tot see condition damage shine, you have to wait until you can get the Sharper Images trait and stack precision. Incidentally, condition damage is better for fighting mobs considerably higher than you. While normal attacks will score glancing blows (meaning they’ll be 50% of their normal damage) condition damage will still take it’s full effect.

so im basically screwed and have to buy a whole power set plus runes?

im really confused as to why this class has such low level damage… very unnapealing

You may want to give it a try.

Get a greatsword and staff ASAP. use GS primarily to open with, and when most of your cooldowns are used up, switch to staff and use those cooldowns. Back and forth. Easy peasy.

Damage is fine if you do this. Let your illusions do the heavy lifting. Let your GS auto attack do the rest of the work. Youll see.

whoua buying runes and sigils for a level 10 char is … expensive.

Just buy/find standard power/precision gear and run with Greatsword/Sword+Pistol.

Mesmers are very dependent of their traits and utility skills. More than any other class.

Any old mix of armor works fine. If you have the extra scratch or craft armor, then prioritize Knight armor stats (pow/tough/precision). But really, Armor doesn’t matter u til you hit 65+.

well currently, i got a full set of power gear and i just rip stuff up with sword / pistol. if i know im going to be fighting a large group of mobs i summon 2 clones with staff 4 + 5 and shatter them for massive aoe. does any suggest i use a different offhand than pistol?

well im using the minor glyph for speed on kill, so its not bad. im just wondering what advantages does a gun have over a sword? is the 5 skill better than blocking?
