Hey guys,

I am playing wvw most time. But since the HoT Release (where Nec get really strong upgrades) many things get nerfed on this class. That due to 2 Problems:

You maybe know, Infusing terror (deathshroud skill 3) get hard nerfed. basic CD from 20 to 25. Duration of skill from 8sec to 5. Because of that its really hard to play nec in WvW without stabi support by other classes. And the “chilled to the bone” has a small range and too long cd for a buff you need really often. mostly i get stunned hard before i come in range to use it. if you get supportet by guards nec have no problems, but it would be nice if anet give the necs the option to play more …. solo.

Second problem is, that ALL classes are faster than nec. If i get someone low life he runs and i cannot make the finishing dmg to him for bringing him downstat. It would be nice if nec get just 1 instant port skill. Maybe something with flesh worm, that nec can chase enemies over a 1200 range to get final hit. if enemy is dodging it, its okay that he can escape. but nec should get the option for this final push. atm he is just to slow.

this things due to never see nec in roaming atm. he is a little bit like in past before HoT release. to slow, to less stabi, no blocks, no invis, no invulnerability, just a victim for many other classes.

atm i changed for roaming to DH. because its easier to follow enemies with judge intervention and skills like this. but it would be really nice nec get upgrades for beeing a good option for soloroaming.

Ummm, you know you could just not run reaper. Core necro is a bit better for roaming and Deathshroud 2 gets you to your target.

Big sidenote for you,

You just went from most immobile class in the game to the second most immobile. With DH, you’re going to run into the exact same mobility issues unless you sacrifice your runes for Traveller. Even then, almost every other class is going to get away from you fairly easily lol.

Well it is true that movement speed buffs are generally more easy to put in decent builds for necros then for guardians they still have a access to swiftness (staff, retreat etc.) and guardians have better gap closers by far. And gap closers are what prevents enemies from getting away not extra movment speed. So i wouldnt call guaurdians less mobile then necros.

Also i dont agree that base necro is better for roaming. Death shroud 2 is really easy to dodge and any decent player can avoid it at range making it bad/unreliable for chasing. Deaths charge is much better for chasing then ds2 simply because it is reliable even with its lesser range. The only thing base shroud has over reaper shroud is its attack range but seriously just run double ranged weapon (e.g. staff+ scepter) and you wont need the range of base shroud.

Its Reaper Shroud #3 u ment. And if u wanna add to the stability duration just take “Foot in Grave” and even further u do as I and also run Speed of Shadows and u have 3sec Stab every 7sec (thats without Boon Food).

You have plenty of Stability as Reaper, they had some insane Nerfs since HoT yes and many uncalled for but Stability is still there. For the Speed yea Necro/Reaper is slowest out there but then u ahve to sacrifice something to get speed, go Spectral, Trav runes aso… your choice

btw: Core Necro is far worse then Reaper at roaming, havent lost to a fellow Core Necro since HoT

Reaper Shroud skill #2 can get you to your target, as well as Death Shroud skill #2(if using core necro).

Speed of Shadows, Vital Persistence, and GS5 largely solves the mobility problem. Depending on your use-case, It’s typically just Nike warrior, bunker ranger (mostly a problem imho because if/when I do majorly out-play them and catch up and get some damage in it’s tanked/sustained right on through) or a thief deliberately running away with shortbow that I find myself unable to catch and kill. Otherwise, I usually can pursue or close the gap just fine against anything else.

You have to build heavily into mobility to get the reasonable roaming speed/chase potential, and I don’t think many people do it. It’s a fair trade-off, though, since the profession is meant to be slow, and packs a major punch in toe-to-toe fighting. it’s not ideal, but it’s suitable. Builds meant for speed should probably out-run a reaper/necromancer, anyways.
