Thinking about 30/20/0/0/20 combining Dhumfire+Terror+Master of Terror.

How would you build for it gear wise and weapons? Is it a good choice for whatever part of the game?

problem is you’ll probs want to use staff so you’ll need greater marks soooooooo, idk how to get around it.

I’ve thought about it as well with using 2 scepters with different off hands. But no staff is meh and staff without greater marks is meh as well.

With the new patch I use the following.
Full knights armor, with ruby orbs. Cavalier amulet and accessory, knights rings, all with exquisite emerald jewels.
30/20/0/0/20
Focused talisman, axe training and dhuumfire.
Weakening shroud, terror
Spectral mastery or path of midnight (but it’s bugged and doesn’t affect DS#5 atm) and master of terror.
Consume conditions, spectral wall, spectral walk, locust signet, and plague.
Terror dmg is just there for added dmg, however, note with the changes to DS fear, if you’re within 600 range you fear for over 2 seconds (due to 30 spite and master of terror) which does nice dmg (a possible of 3 ticks)!
I’ve tried it out and so far I’m in love with this, and since wall also fears and does dmg, there’s both defense and offense.
Even defeated a burst thief thanks to spectral wall, since I could hide behind it!
Anyways, try it and you’ll see what I mean

If you want extra duration on fear, get a sigil of paralyzation (yes it works on fear), then you can move 10 points from soul rip to death.

Honestly, you should always just put 10 for greater marks when starting any necro build because if you go staff without greater marks, you are gimping yourself, and if you don’t use staff, you are also gimping yourself. There isn’t another weapon combination that provides the versatility given by staff with greater marks.

I had this exact same thought, tried it, hated it.

The loss of Staff 4, where condition removal is always important, and mark 5 in a FEAR build… is just silly. You need staff, and subsequently need greater marks.

However I have come to terms with how lingering curses is no longer all that useful. With the longer base poison, I don’t have much need for it, since all my conditions are longer with 30 points in spite. 30/20/10/10/0 for me.

Re-learning to make sure and hold DS until im in melee range is hard as I use DS2 as my incoming gap closer often, but that paired with mark of evasion is very nice. Getting the timing down on hitting epidemic RIGHT at the end of the tainted shackle to get the immobilize in AOE is very nice too.

Must practicing and such…. but I love high rewards for well timed spells.
