Guild Wars 2

Somehow it happened last night, and I gotta say- it went great. Was only a 19 so obviously not too representative of something more challenging, but I was supposed to be teaching a fractal run for guildies and that’s what we ended up with as a comp. I suppose what I should have been teaching is people to play a balanced class comp, but instead our only non-necro decided to join in on the fun and swapped from ele to necro. I gotta say, it was really fun to ramble on about necro tips and tricks uninterrupted for 40-50 minutes.

We got Uncategorized, Colossus and Mai Trin and didn’t wipe once. Long story short, CPC is amazing. Uncategorized went brilliantly because of it, no excuse not to have 100% uptime on blocks for them, which makes the boss easy too. Golems did a decent job tanking the ettin for us to clear things out. Colossus went pretty smoothly too, even with few pulls. Mai was a lot of fun too, even had a guy who had never done the fight and I think only 1 person relogged.

All in all I don’t think this is a particularly crazy good comp, but it was really really smooth. DPS was a little slow, but not unbearable by any means, have certainly had worse in “normal” comps. I mean, dropping a necro or two for some stronger DPS classes would certainly be an improvement but it went fine.

It was a really fun thing to try and I’m tempted to get a 50 going with it another time XD. Necros are full of cool tricks.

I had a guard who died many times last night in a pug fractal tell me he thought necros were useless in fractals. I said only people who don’t know how to play their class are useless. He clearly didn’t. I left it at that and he didn’t say another word. I get really tired of the necro hate and I understand what we do and do not bring to the table. I enjoy the class and I play games for fun. I just hope I can find a team/guild who will let me raid with my “useless” necro.

I made scale 50 with 3 necros / guard / ele and it was a great moment with this wonderful anti-meta team, only ignorants hates necro cuz they read everywhere this class is useless without trying to understand it

OP it depends if the team was all zerk or maybe 1-2 sinister it should be alright, even lv50. Necro has a lot of weakness, aoe damage, blinds so its effective. We are also fairly tanky.
I’ve been in a full necro team frac50 where 2 guys were celestial and cleric i think, it was terrible.

I do level 49 and 50 fractals regularly, and I am always useful in some sort. We can debate a lot about the awesomeness of Corrosive Poison Cloud now (against the Golem in the Asuran’s Fractal, the ballistas in Ascalon, etc), the coolness of Transfusion when moving allies away from the hammer of the Archdiviner (in the Dr. Manhattan fractal) and more but belive me:
Spectral Grasp against Mai Trin is the real deal. Everytime I organize with the party to use it, afterwards everyone want a Necromancer for that fractal.

We can debate a lot about the awesomeness of Corrosive Poison Cloud now (against the Golem in the Asuran’s Fractal, the ballistas in Ascalon, etc), the coolness of Transfusion when moving allies away from the hammer of the Archdiviner (in the Dr. Manhattan fractal) and more but belive me:
Spectral Grasp against Mai Trin is the real deal. Everytime I organize with the party to use it, afterwards everyone want a Necromancer for that fractal.

I had no idea that spectral grasp worked against Mai. I assumed she was immune to all crowd control. And I learned something today.

So glad I’m not the only one who thought of this. It just makes things sooooooo easy.

Oh and Spectral Walk for the swamp fractal is just easy mode.
