Yesterday was weird;

Pack Runes and zerker in WvWvW for testing (lack of strength) and Crusader’s amulet for duels (not kidding)

Plus side; enough health to survive stupid condi-bursts which gives ample time to transfer and apparently capable of surviving multiple enemies

Terror of the Undead

This is I believe the closes thing to our old terrormancer with the absence of path of corruption. The build is extremely hard to kill because of the following reasons:
1) +3000 Toughness (Thanks to new trait corrupter’s fervor which is so easy to maintain max stacks), Protection and AoE weakness (100% uptime for single target)
2) Even tough the HP is 19k, condis can’t kill you because you have 5 ways to remove them. Also LF regen is good enough.

The rotations are same as the old terrormancer so playstyle is very similar. Take advantage of fear chains, geomancy etc. I believe you can change a few things and here is my reasoning:
1)Soul marks => Speed of Shadows for some mobility and higher stability uptime. Also it somewhat benefits enfeebling shroud, but personally I don’t go in DS that often. I don’t like this because SM is just too good for LF and even if i go in DS in 6-7s I won’t have my important skills up, still. Also you can interrupt all blocks including guard heal.
2) Sigil of Frailty => ? I picked this cause it’s a good long cover condition and vuln now also increases condi dmg. Can still be changed though.
3) Signet of Spite => Spectral Walk SoP is much better now kitten vuln affects condis too, 10s weakness on it is also too goot. High cooldown but easy to land due to many CC. However spectral walk + wurm is also a great combo for juking.
4)Plague Form => Flesh golem Recharge of golem is now 40 instead of 60 so you can cast it again if you ever die. Also get LF when he dies. However before today I always used plague, the self bleed scared me but I’m pretty sure it’s still as good, if not better than flesh golem and his weird AI.

Please post me some feedback! Note that I haven’t yet tried the signetmancer so cannot make a direct comparison. But from the build templates I read,
this has some more AoE and support for team in terms of weakness on enemy (this is really big).

Pre-June 23rd, I (somewhat) regularly updated a PvE build on Gw2guru for the necromancer that focused of squeezing out damage with siphons. I’ve recently updated the build in question and I reckon it’s substantially better than most necro builds for dungeons.

Things of note:

In death magic I go with death nova due to the jagged horror summons, more minions!

Unholy martyr and necromatic corruption work well together.

Foot in the grave is the only reactive stun break. So be leary of CC builds.

Weapons are D/H and A/D to take advantage of the dagger speed trait, but also they work well together in this conjunction over having a staff.

You get lots of life and lots of life force, you can stay in DS a long time while healing back up.

Yeh it is. It might actually be viable, have had very good win rates with it even vs many for er top 50 players and teams. Maybe finally a strong necro sustain spec?

It’s very alike to the ‘A Stab in the Dark’-build made by Bacon, like I mentioned ealier.

This is my basic loadout when doing Dungeons. So far everything goes fine, but I still need the time to fully explore everything.

When I’m just doing World Events (and being very lazy, semi-afkish), I switch Blood Bond to Quickening Thirst and/or Vamperic Presence to Banshee’s Wail.

Hey all,

After 2 days of testing couple builds, I found 3 or 4 worth noticing and 1-2 fun ones. I’ll maybe update that further.

For now, I have two builds to post:

Corruption Condition

So, you’re thinking, Corruptions suck, Signets all the way? Could be and it’s possibly true. But as always, I try not to use common choices. And there’s a possibility to play Corruptions.

So that’s Corruption Necro in Curses/DM/SR. Because I take Undead Runes and Corrupter’s Fervor, I managed to lower self-damage from Plague to about 4k over full duration. It’s probably best it will be.

Now, it’s not old Terrormancer. It doesn’t have Terror, it doesn’t have Path of Corruption. It has lower cooldown Corrupt Boon instead, which, (after Stability fix) is okay for Boon removal.

Instead, it’s quite sustain damage. One good thing about Corruption’s CDR is that Corrosive Poison Cloud cooldown is now 20s! So you’re basically Weakness machine. CPC, Weakning Shroud are very good traits and seriously reduce damage on point. CPC also applies constant pressure with Poison. Apart from that, you have lots of toughness (though new Instagib Mesmers are a problem) and good defense against Conditions (including those applied by Corruptions) with Spiteful Removal and general Soul Reaping line, pretty common for most Condi builds now.

Blood & Curses Support

Now that’s a surprise, but it’s build I had most fun with:

I wrote guide for it, so won’t explain much. I won pretty much every ranked game which wasn’t against 4 or 5 man premades, since this build requires some thought from your teammates to work properly and is probably a lot stronger with cooridnated team and VoIP.

Never thought that Support Necro may work, but as it turns out, it’s probably one of the best support builds now. And Transfusion is awesome. Too bad people pick Foefire so often, it shows astonishig potential with any verticality or LoS like Khylo or Niflhel.

Main weakness of builds I came up with are Instagib Mesmers (I guess they will be toned down, because their burst on +3k armor targets is ridiculous and almost un-counterable for Necromancers, your Team will have to take care of them), and high Burning stacking from Eles and Guardians mostly. Thieves aren’t that big issue, especially Support build.

I swapped Water sigil (it actually heals for 700-800) to Energy one, just because with current overwhelming damage from Mesmers and Thieves in particular I’m being tunnelvisioned (focused regardless of situation) the entire time, even in Plague, even while I simply don’t die. I believe it’s also hard to understand for not cooridnated PuGs that I’m actually a Necro who heals them (people tend to run all over the place in teamfights and you don’t have 600 range on everything) and I’m often being treated as “bunker”. Have yet to try it with proper team.

So far, in about 30 games I won every single one which wasn’t against 4 or 5 man premades or with some amazing matchmaking like 4 Mesmers and me. It can carry pretty hard.

I’m interested in feedback. Have you tried it? Any success? I admit 30 or so games with PUGs is nothing nearly enough to say if build is good or bad, but I figured out that when I actually can do what I am supposed to do (supporting), it’s very potent.

I’m also thinking of swapping Well of Darkness to Corrosive Poison Cloud. It doesn’t instantly cut the melee pressure from the target, but has way lower cooldown (20s) and 15s Duration (!) with bigger radius. It also brings rather insignificant self-conditions (Weakness and short Cripple) which can be used to boost Consume Conditions and don’t harm main role of the build. Once I’m back home, I’ll give it some proper tests and maybe modify the guide a little bit.

And 2 minute Plague countering every single Warrior Rampage (which becomes quite popular) is probably best laugh ever.

I did about 8ish games. I switched to energy when I put it together. I like the extra dodges.

I’m facing a minimum of 2 mesmers each game, one time it was even all mesmers. The ones who have their burst down are taking me to near death in their burst combo, it is really tough to bounce back from. So I don’t feel I’m getting an accurate gauge on how good it is.

I’ll probably shelve it until the extra high damage mostly unavoidable burst from mesmers calms down a bit, but I do think it is good for a support build.

death + blood + soul has a lot of nice synergies. I believe a lot of fun tanky builds will come out of it. It generates so much life force it’s hard to get rid of it sometimes. I am trying to remember to burn my life force to 50% and then refill it over and over again. I also was surprised how fat the shroud 1 shots are they help give me some much needed AOE.

Yeah, as mentioned, Mesmers are running rampant now with all those instagib 1-shot specs, but it will be nerfed.

Once you’re against more balanced comps with Warriors, Guardians and others, this build starts to shine.

I also think that it might be hard for all of us to perform in support role as Necromancers, because we never really had a viable option for that. I still find myself playing very Condimancer-like in some situations.

But when I actually remember about all the stuff I have and focus on supporting allies, it’s a lot of fun. And probably the most active support build I’ve played.

Been running full blown signet necro jesus. Hilarious results. Heal like 2~3k when exit shroud, massive transfusion, decent leech, lots of armour. Also had a curses variant or a more selfish one with bloodbond instead and again hilarity ensued. The sustain and support is real and the damage isnt even bad.

I’m glad your enjoying it as much as I am. How did you feel about losing the healing power, bonus heal, and condition removal from water? Earth seems like a good choice since the builds main boon is protection. It could let you stack almost 30+ seconds of protection and then wait the downtime out in shroud.

Have you found weapon swapping useful? I was a big proponent of using axe/focus for a quick 20-25 vuln stack then going in with dagger but the cds are so low now I found myself sitting on one weapon more and more.

I barely noticed the healing power loss. With life force building up so incredibly quick, I was in that a good amount of time and with the other amulet, it put me at 97% crit in shroud.

Protection to me is the best boon, so yeah, my intent is to keep it up as much as possible.

I usually open with axe, mainly axe 2 for LF and then axe 3 for the aoe boon conversion. At this point I clear send condis on their way and switch to dagger were I either get health back or pin and auto. At this point you are already swimming in life force.

The main weakness is short on stability and lack of aoe.

This is my first attempt at my own build, and I’d love feedback!

My Aim: a less selfish PvE necromancer build, utilizing condition aoe damage and giving might, siphoning heals, and revivy stuff to allies.

The What: Here’s the link to the build with food etc.

The Why:
Traits: I went into Death Magic cause it gives a lot of survivability, a cleanse, and better life force gain. I went into Blood Magic with the most glee, because this trait line gives us a lot of new things which allow for necro support. For instance, Vampiric Presence gives AoE siphoning. Last Rites means nearby downed allies don’t bleed out and you get better at healing the lower your health is (just pop Shroud!). Transfusion in this line literally zaps nearby downed allies to your location and partially revives them (great for PvP too!). You can switch the first trait choice to Quickening Thirst to make up for lack of Signet of the Locust. I went with Curses because CONDITIONS OMG. With what I picked, you get increased bleeds with crits, increased crits per condiiton on enemy, condition damage based on your precision (!) and 150 more condition damage from wielding a scepter!
Gear: I am not 100% on the gear, but I figured for PvE, I shouldn’t need too much tankiness from gear with two life bars and two dodges. I also did not see any proof that siphoning increases with Healing Power or other stats so far. So I chose Verata’s and Sinister.
Skills: Blood Is Power was a staple for condimancer before, and now it gives up to 5 allies 8 stacks of might for 8 seconds. Epidemic takes the conditions from a single enemy target and transfers them to up to 5(?) nearby enemies at the caster’s condition damage numbers, regardless of the origins of the conditions. This effectively gives me the right to spread those burns and confusions I couldn’t generate on my own. Plague Signet and Plague are just more conditiony stuff.

TL;DR Necros can be pretty chill (heh) in a group now.

Does very well in 1v1 and is about 50/50 in a 1v2, though even in that case it can hold out quite a while (One case I’m thinking of was vs a ranger and ele)

Substantial sustain from BM and a 7sec CD stunbreak is wonderful against CC, though definitely best to have more LF in case of CC chain. I choose spectral grasp over other spectral skills because being able to grab an engi or ele and keep him in my wells (SG + Dark Pact combo) melts them while giving me some healing.

I cobbled this build together while wearing full cavalier armor to try and carry a 4 person inexperienced group through TA story mode and it worked very well.

In pvp, I used barbarian amulet w/ krait runes and switched BiP and CPC with Corrupt boon and epedemic. Did fine in hot join but not so much in Unranked (constantly ganked by this teef duo)
