Hello everyone,

I am currently playing a condition necro build, mostly for tournaments

I obviously need a stun breaker and something that would help me get some life force back in tough situations but I can’t choose between Spectral Walk and Spectral armor.

One of them gives me swiftness which would make me abit more mobile and the other one gives protection, to make me survive abit longer

But when you think about it, the swiftness given by spectral walk gives me better kiting abilities kinda.. so idk

Help me choose, thanks

Have you considered Flesh Wurm? I haven’t played much tpvp but it’s served me well in sPvP. The teleport, once you learn to use it, is great for getting out of a bad spot. You get lifeforce every time you use it. It also has the shortest cd of all our stunbreakers. Even if you don’t take the minion master trait.

Between Spectral Walk and Spectral Armor I’d lean towards Spectral Walk. I think the cd from Spectral Armor is too long for it to be terribly useful. The best answer might be to trait for the auto Spectral Armor and bring Spectral Walk or Flesh Wurm on your bar. Not sure if your build has room to do that though.

I actually tried Flesh Wurm, it’s not bad at all and the pet damage is decent but I don’t feel like it helps me have better mobility

Yup I do have the trait for auto spectral armor

Spectral Walk all the time. Spectral Armor’s 6 second of protection and the 90 second cooldown make it so that Spectral Walk is simply better in all aspects. If it were Stability+Protection Armor could be worth it but as it is now, Walk is simply better.

Here’s the thing: it depends on what you truly need.
Spectral Walk’s swiftness is nice, but if you actually activate it you won’t have a stunbreaker available to you. So if this is all about the stunbreaker and not other nice-to-haves, I would recommend Spectral Armor.
Alternatively, you could equip Spectral Walk and strictly use it only as a stunbreaker. Although I know I wouldn’t be able to do that as I’d be too tempted to use it while not in combat. Then again, would you want swiftness or protection when in combat + situation in dire need of a stunbreak? Prot I’d say. So Spectral Armor.

Just break down the skills and choose:

Spectral Walk [60 Second cooldown/ 48 Second cooldown traited]

  • Stun-breaker.
  • 8 Seconds of life force building.
  • 30 Seconds of Swiftness.
  • Potential duking skill.

Spectral Armor [90 Second cooldown/ 72 Second cooldown traited]

  • Stun-Breaker.
  • 6 Seconds of life force building.
  • 6 Seconds of Protection.

For me, Spectral Walk will always be the top choice as my stun-breaker.

You should never need a stun breaker. Necro should always have a support with shared stability next to them and for times that require it, Death Shroud and Plague Form offer extremely useful saves, as well as using full Lyssa Runes and running your short cooldown Flesh Golem.

Flash builds with teleports are for hot matches and trolling. Nothing more. You can’t use them to change the point the same color as your armor so you are useless in tPvP using them.

Focus on support Utilities and run damage of your chosen flavor (I like both) and combine it with lower tier Vitality and DS line traits. Don’t underestimate the value of Lyssa Runes. Clear all conditions Gain all Boons will change the way you play Necro.

No hes right, most stuns can be avoided or just simply tanked through (as a necromancer that is)

With our only decent stun-breakers being on 60 second cooldowns vs classes that can multi-stun in a row its really a bad choice to pick one over something that could work in your favor (example Well of Darkness which would shutdown the damage done to you after being CC’d and offer a combo field and any well-related perks from traits(protection, life siphon))

My main reason for using Spectral Walk is for the life force boosting and perma-swiftness which i feel is a must for Necromancers in WvW. Whenever im CC’d Death Shroud works as my stunbreaker (as it can be cast whilst CC’d) and i just Doom them away.

Also lets not forget the obvious trait that fears apon being CC’d.
