The areas of the game where Necros were faring quite well were:
Fractals: (5 condi necro meta was extremely common and and easy way to clear with pugs).
Raids: Again, they were purely used for condi because of Epidemic bouncing and they arguably had the highest condi damage, at range, on the easiest rotation of any profession. Also for party condi management via Plague Signet.
WvW: For staff/well bombing and condi bombing with epi.

Fractals: That only made necros as easy pick for lazy people, not a good or efficient way.
Raids: They had decent condi damage mostly due to the minions and epi bounces (the latter not being available in every fight) and I’d argue perfecting the condi necro rotation was more difficult than, for example, condi ps due to you having to know when exactly (not) to pop shroud as to get the most out of RS5+4 along with really not wanting to interrupt your auto-chain if it’s not necessary (aka good positioning is even more required than on other classes), obviously knowing what to pick when etc. Condi ps always felt a lot easier to me to get through with. Condi nec just had the advantage that it has a higher dps floor thanks to the minions, which is why I don’t mind them trying to move away from that. Just sucks big time we’re not getting kitten in return. Condi management was only really great at matthias.
In the end, in raids necro was a decent pick because it was capable of competing with other classes under the right circumstances but it never was the best pick or optimal for the most part, it was just a viable choice, in a good place indeed. That’s pretty much gone now.

Totally, the game devs love collecting unemployment. (This is sarcasm).
Anyway, this is one of the reason why devs don’t post, why should they. We are all kittened but such a childish comments wont get the devs to list or consider your point of view.

You cant.
There simply arent monthly feedback threads like there were for for each beta of elite specs, there also arent any more community representatives who would gather and summarize common concerns.
You can only make a pretty lore picture on reddit and hope a story dev sends you a flower, the balance devs dont read the internet.

You make a decent well thought out post and hope for the best. Some devs have said in the past that they do read the comments. In any case, just because they don’t do what you want doesn’t mean they don’t listen. It just means there is a difference of opinion on the direction.
I mean there are very few mmorpg where players are happy about balance changes.
There is something a lot people don’t realize about the official forums. Their intended purpose was to minimize the spread of negativity. They made the forum to contain some of the bad elements instead of having it spread out.

Class balance devs have already been moved onto the next GW2 expansion projects. This means for any class to expect big changes, they’re going to be happening when the next expansion launches. Sad, but it’s the truth. The game at the moment is more or less on maintenance mode while they design/build the next expansion. Don’t expect a lot of changes no matter how nice you post or how well thought out your post is.
I’m not asking for change, I’m asking for an explanation for the lack of change. I want to know what it is ANet thinks Necromancers are doing fine with, what it is they’re doing that works that, evidently, the rest of the community struggles with.
Remember that in game design the ‘good’ class is the one that’s utterly average.

That’s the thing though, only time they come out to post and communicate with players, is during expansion beta/launch. lol!
There is no explanation. Have you paid attention to the thief at all? ANet at one point during a stream said they didn’t know what they were doing with the profession because none of their employees play/played it.
Changes are made arbitrarily based on anecdotal or metric data from a very few selected formats and purposes (I.E. how often they’re used in raids/fractals).

For that thiefs work really good. ->perma dodge, perma stealth while attacking enemies or endless escape skills made thief unkillable. while necro is not usable without a whole team babysitting him.
For one it’s overstated, and the other bit is that’s entirely caused because of the astronomical and absurd powercreep from Daredevil. The fact that Daredevil even exists kind of proves my point that ANet doesn’t know what they’re doing, and that’s coming from someone who used to main thief.

here’s to hoping that mobs don’t wise up and focus the necromancer too. then there’s no place that the class can do anything.
