anet wants us to play only pure conditiomancer which is quite useless with guardians and eles in every map who have passive condi removes

Passive condition removal would barely touch the amount of conditions a single wellomancer could lay down.

Mr Sharp said the following in a post;

“No prob. Some classes have a ton of AOE, while others don’t have as much. So we’re not just going to do a blanket nerf to all AOE – that’s not fair to all classes. We’ll go on a class by class, weapon by weapon basis.

And as I’ve said, we may need to tone something down in one area of the game, but it may be totally fine in another area.

For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address."

A fine response by Sharp, and frankly some of the concerns people have had in this thread and others were just too ridiculous lol.
Although as we’ve all grown older and wiser we know that Anet will at best do a mediocre job at implementing this change, leaving much to be wished for.

We talk about different Necromancer builds but a power build, for example, is still heavily dependent upon conditions. Reducing AoE condition damage would be like filing the point off the only sharp tool in the tool-box.

I can see reducing Warrior and Elementalist AoE damage but, to be honest, that might be like making them into Necromancers with mediocre attacks and AoE conditions that every class can mitigate, at least short term.

Slightly extending heavy class AoE attack and condition removal CD will preserve their burst capability and make using combo fields more important.

Variants on that idea could also work for the medium and other light class proffessions. Conditions are relatively weak until they stack and that takes time, hence the importance of AoE for Necromancer. I can drop wells and marks all over the place then go into DS for AoE damage but I still need time wear through an opponent’s heals, buffs, and condition removal. However, if direct damage from AoE attacks is reduced, then I would need to avoid being ganked by a 1 or 2 shot a lot longer.

Also I’m kind of curious what this means to melee classes. Their basic attacks are AoEs. They hit multiple targets. It would be seriously wrong if necros, elementalists and others received a nerf even to our staff basic attacks (which are AoE too) while melee classes could still keep those.

I don’t recall any of the necro axe, dagger or sceptre basic attacks hitting multiple foes. Not so with melee classes where the attacks are actually AoEs. It would be somewhat ironic if the best single target professions would also become the best AoE professions – well arguably they are already.

When Anet says “AoE” I keep hearing “ranged targetted AoE only”

Your assumption is well placed. The whole AoE nerf idea started when Anet saw a 1vs2, where the two guys end up losing to the 1. That 1 person then use AoE skills to finish the 2 off without stomping them. This gives neither people a chance to rally and so AoE is OPed…. >_>

But… I got killed by a engineer, because he had turrets helping him! It was like a 5V1! ITS OP!!!

Well, i didnt really get killed by an engineer, but that would be something Anet would think was OP
