First off I have to say that the necromancer is my favorite class. Period. I’ve tried every other class, but I found that they aren’t as rewarding/fun as necros are. But I didn’t post here to profess my love for necros. I want to address what I think of necros as a whole.

Firstly, minion builds. I’ve seen far more complaints about them than positive posts about them. I think minion builds are great and here’s why: extreme solo-ability, survivability, and consistent dps. Ever since I rounded out my minion collection with the addition of the flesh golem I’ve continued to build trait lines with pro-minion bonuses. As a result, I almost never die. I can kill multiple enemies easily without taking any damage to myself. Multiple veterans? No problem. When I do get in a sricky situation, I can just leave my minions to die while I escape.

Secondly: stats. I’ve found that carrion stats (+power, +condition damage, and +vitality) are the best. Power and condition damage are obvious choices. But I’ve seen people roll with precision on a necro. And I have to ask myself why? Unless you’re going to go with daggers 100% of the time, precision is useless. Vitality much better because necros have multiple abilities that place harmful conditions on themselves. Having all of that extra HP is nice, not to mention you can stay in death shroud longer and survive harder attacks.

Third is more of a suggestion than anything, but I’d like to see ooc hp regen for all minions. I think that minion builds would be much more attractive to people that have disdain for them.

Those are just my thoughts. Currently I’m a level 80 with a full set of carrion exotic armor, staff, and trinkets (minus the amulet, I need to buy it still)

1) Minions are great until they stand there and don’t do anything. Minions are great until you’re in Orr at 80 and fleshgolem’s aggroing everything then stands there and does nothing

2) Precision because when you crit you proc more bleeds, which I believe is the point of condition builds. Power doesn’t do too much

3) You and everyone else. Long list of things to do to improve the poorly implemented minions.

I played 400 games as a Thief and I would like to thank Necros who think minions are good for the free 10K HP heal with Dagger Storm and Signet of Malice.

minnions are great for like 3 games then you realise there nothing but non responding cannonfodder for anything that looks their way..

I got like tons of games in total and i think i saw one good necromancer who used his pets to its fullest and he only had the bonegolem and the boneminions for the combo effects, anything above that.. and youre really walking on a razorsedge for missing out on a stun breaker.. ok ok the worm is a stunbreaker and what else the shadowfiend.. that one dies in 3 hits and the rustmonster dies even faster, i take well of suffering anyday above those 2 pets.

1. I agree that minions still need to be improved…but I believe that they will be. Once they are, I think that minion builds will be more commonly accepted. However, I enjoy them as they are, even if it means I have to kill every undead to get to that orichalcum ore!

2. Yeah I suppose that’s true. I have +10% bleeding duration on my staff, I feel like I would do more damage with my staff auto attacks and that than a chance to proc a bleed on hit. I may be wrong.

But yeah I honestly think that necros are in for some buffs in the future, even if it’s only for minions.

When I’m in WvW, I only use flesh golem and flesh wurm. The wurm is expecially nice in WvW for that extra damage and quick escapes. Flesh golem just wrecks people with his charge. In dungeons, I forego flesh golem for lich form, but I keep flesh wurm again for the extra damage and for quick escapes. I’m not a huge fan of wells. I like to use blood is power, signet of spite, and consume conditions.

What up future me?

Not much past me!

When I said procs I mainly meant the sigil of earth. The trait proc is pretty terrible with a 1 second bleed and an ICS- I mean, we don’t have warrior level bleeds here.
