Guild Wars 2

Hey guys, I’ve recently been maining reaper as the main specc for pvp and just need a bit of advice. I’ve managed to get to Gold 3 on soloqueue playing predominantly reaper, mostly boonstrip power and sometimes as proccmancer.

I’d like to know how you deal with this class on a 1v1 level. The meta PI dash thief usually isn’t an issue at all. However the vault spam builds gets noticeably difficult. I feel as though sometimes impossible to deal with solo, especially on thieves who have learnt how to abuse debilitating arcs and their cancels.

Any advice would be nice, I realize it’s a skill thing and I’d like to improve.

(On the second build, I often ran Greatsword with cc heavy teams but mainly axe warhorn everywhere else).

idk dodge the first two vaults and then get weakness on them and start using damage skills. might help. if they aren’t spamming get weakness and cover it with some others, try to cast cancel skills with obvious animations to bait dodges.

Problem with that is they essentially start with 5 dodges with signet of agility, 7 if they stole successfully and enough initiate to spam another 3-4. Is there no other way other than animation baiting?

Marks do really well against them. I usually don’t have much of a problem with them. I usually will drop marks, try to land axe 3, then shadow shroud 4. But use whatever aoe you have at the time. It’s possible,if you don’t have much,that you can’t counter them easily, but you can’t counter every build anyway, so pick your targets. I personally bring staff particularly for thieves but it works nicely against others too

There’s not much you can do against a half competent thief.

They will keep disengaging on you until they run you out of defensive cooldowns and shroud and then come in for the kill.

The thieves you kill are the ones who are impatient/dumb and will all-in you when you have full shroud and cd’s.

The problem is they can simply harass you with shortbow and all they need to worry about at a distance is dodging your marks which is easy enough for them, and since necro doesn’t have any good ranged weapons on a power build they’ll get you to like 60-70% and go in for the first burst attempt.

Thief and warrior are necro counters, they have the strongest burst in game and the best damage evasion tools.

Time your attacks to land when they are at the top of a vault. No evade frame there.

which always annoyed me cuz necro is traditionally the melee counter.

Spectral Wall will actually work nicely. Wall skills ignore evasion frames.
